Joe Rogan vs. Carlos Mencia - Page 2

The only reason Mencia gets airtime is because Comedy Central needed replacement racial humor after Chappelle dropped out of his show. Only Chappelle did some genuinely hilarious smart material, and Mencia is a complete asshole. The least he could do is be a funny asshole.

No shit. He comes out looking stupid, but nowhere near as bad as Mencia. The idea he stole wasn't even a very good one.

The host and his show are terrible, he is a big floppy pussy for not calling Mencia out on air, I'm going to feel bad for the rest of the day, why, you shouldn't. This is why Rogan is useful, because a lot of people are like this radio host. But the fact that some cheeseball radio host is able to see firsthand that Mencia is a joke thief makes Mencia look really, really bad. He acted like he cured cancer with his stolen stereotype olympics idea.

So that makes Rogan a "Beaner-schnitzel"?

I think that was referring to Mencia's ethnicity, which makes "beaner-schnitzel" work even better.

My bad. You're right (re-reading prior posts).

Blew that joke. There's always next time.

Joe Rogan is a brilliant comic. He may be one of the best working comedians out there today.

So that's two comedians who steal material from others but yet can't even manage to be funny. Ridiculous.

Actually, his father was born in Honduras (of German decent) and his mother is Mexican. Carlos was born in Honduras. Just because his grandfather is German doesn't make him German.

So which one did he get his shit sense of humor from? That's the part I'd like cleared up.

From himself?

Seriously, Joe Rogan would've had a heart attack had he been alive during Picasso's and Matisse's lives.

Apples and Oranges. You can't steal brush strokes.

Exactly. What I don't understand is how stand-up went from a time when stealing jokes got you blackballed and you couldn't pay to work to now, when people will say "who cares if Carlos stole it, he tells it funny." What the fuck kind of excuse is that? I bet if someone broke into that same persons house they wouldn't say "who cares so long as they use my stuff better than I did."

Fucking retards.

But you could steal composotion, framing, style, etc., etc. Or is art fraud a fictional industry?

None of these idiots are artist to begin with, so I doubted anyone takes thier acts seriously.

There are more things to sweat over than beig obsessed over an industry in which the bottomline is the almighty dollar.

Like Michael Bay or Apple Computers, perhaps?

At the end of the day, Bay is an entertainer. Plain and simple, hence I don't get why the artistic and academia go apeshit when his movies come out.

BTW, I don't see how Apple fits into this. Apple has changed the computer industry as we know it.

None of the comedy hacks have done shit...like Microsoft.
Actually, I was just ribbing you personally about Michael Bay and Apple (though you rather prove my point about the Apple bit).

I mean, there's more to sweat over than which computer company steals from another.
I don't get why someone without a sense of humor would be in this thread.

Yes art fraud, hence the brush strokes jokes. Would Joe Rogan lose his shit in the art fraud world? Maybe, but it's a totally different thing. I don't see how relativism makes what Mencia does better or worse, though.

I'm quite sure people like Richard Pryor took what they did seriously. I'm also sure there were others who did as well. And whether it be art or not, taking someones work and acting like you came up with it is a shitty thing to do.

Yeah, if I was Apple and some guy stole my shit and parlayed it into being the richest man in the world I wouldn't sweat it. WTF are you talking about, just because something doesn't affect you personally doesn't mean it isn't wrong and nobody should mention it.
Well, if you're going to bring art fraud into this discussion, why not bring up the typical proving ground of that arena, which is to paint another piece in the same style and challenge the impostor to do the same. What I wonder is if joke compositions have the same distinction as art work; ie can you place a particular joke with a particular comedian? How much of the joke is in the telling, delivery, etc.? It's pretty tough to leave your own unique fingerprint on a joke; a little twist or tweak and it's no longer recognizable as yours (especially broad gags).

I guess it all boils down to it really sucks that comedians can't copyright jokes.

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Carlos Mencia

You're an idiot. Again.

I was being sarcastic because Nelson is a huge Apple guy and gets worked up about Microsoft and then he comes here and says there's a lot more to get worked up about than comics stealing from comics.
I had no way of knowing that Nelson was a huge Apple guy, but my bad on this one. You are still a douchebag however.
I just hate Mencia's act, regardless. He tries so hard and prides himself on saying things other people are afraid to say when nothing he says is as powerful or edgy as he says. It just consists of calling people stupid, giving Jay Leno-esque punchlines, but playing it up like he's just telling it like it is, and if you can't handle it, that's too bad.

No, I just hate Ned Holness' lazy, maliciously stupid act. He'll make an incredibly obvious and dull joke, then go up to a person in his audience of that ethnicity and yell, "Stupid!" and "Dee dee dee!" and the crowd will go wild for him.

Also, I got my signature from some guy in i-am-bored.com's comments for his showdown with Mencia on stage.
