Babel HD DVD issues

I picked up the a copy of Babel on HD DVD the other day, and noticed some issues when I tried to play it on my external HD DVD player on my Xbox 360. There appear to be some pretty bad glitches with the subtitles, and the movie freezes up every time I've tried to rewind or fast forward the movie.

It actually freezes up so bad that the picture will stay on the screen after the disc has been taken out of the player. I have to turn my Xbox on and off to get it off the screen.

I was wondering if anyone else here might have seen this on HD DVD and had a similar experience. I know the whole HD DVD craze hasn't caught on yet, but any helpful responses would be great. Thanks.

You bought Babel on HD DVD?

No special features at all, a double dip definately on the way, and you bought it on HD DVD?

wow ...

(( I don't know about the problems. I have read a few reviews of the HD version and there was no playback problems mentioned in the reviews ))

Exchange it for another copy.
If the new one does the same thing, kill someone.

And then tell Sony. They could really use some good news.

I noticed lots of Blu-Ray and HDDVD buyers, or at least people I know, don't really care much for the extras.

I think it'd be kinda funny if those formats flourish because the people who didn't really care for the bonuses that DVD gave us end up making these new formats which arent really all that well recieved by us, the geeks, survive longer than they need to.

And wasn't that the original purpose of Superbit? Make DVDs that are superior audio and video quality and eliminate those pesky extras that take up space?

Those worked out well ...

I'd check other forums that are more HD-DVD-centric (like Home Theater Forum, or DVD Talk's forum), because either it's the disc, or it's an issue with 360 HD players. If it's the latter, you're SOL until they do a new version. As I understand, The Descent was totally buggy for every player but the PS3, so I'm guessing this is standard ops for early adopters.

I got it for 6 bucks more than the standard DVD edition at Wal-Mart. Plus, if it's anything like the reissued 21 Grams Special Edition DVD, the extras on the reissued disc probably won't be that great.

Thanks for the tips/info Andre.

Same Problem

Anxiously got it from netflix only to experience the same problems - Ironic that the movie is about communication and they cant get the HDdvd to communicate correctly.

Is this title on both HD and BluRay? I noticed an Ad that had both.

I read something that noted this was an XBox 360 issue.

Here's hoping that when the movie froze, it was a scene featuring a naked Rinko Kukuchi.
