I'm one of those SW fans. I wanted the original OT (without those awful SE shits), but I didn't want to buy the DVDs released last year because I'm convinced that Lucasfilm will come up with a boxset for this year's 30th anniversary, so I won't get cheated with my money. Alas, it appears that Lucasfilm, with all their resources, can't even come up with the idea of a boxset for its anniversary. As a SW fan, I'm terribly disappointed.

Interesting note: the 3D release was originally, as of 2005, when it was announced, supposed to happen this year.

Another note: I didn't read the whole thread so someone slap me if that was pointed out already.

Either way it's a valid point. I still remember getting a now probably long gone copy of the first issue of some science fiction magazine back in '94 reading "3 years until the next star wars trilogy" with a still of the millennium falcon on the cover. In November of '96 I heard about previews running for a re-release of the movies and made the connection in my head that this is what was happenning instead.

By the way, placeholders are up at amazon for both of the trilogies on blu-ray.
