Bunch of download links here.

I had some fun with this tonight. It looks great, plays great (though I'm not a fan of right cliking to move) and the AI is crazy.

LOVE the live-action cinematics.. I've missed the hell out of those, can't remember the last game I played that used them.. Jedi Knight? I wish more games still did it, even if its expensive and cheesy, it still gives me the warm fuzzies in my tummy.

Classy.
Well, they have Sawyer, Number Six, Boomer, Michael Ironside and Lando Calrissian. That's a cast.... I'll download the demo tonight. Looks like C&C is back.

I'll skip Supreme Commander; the requirements are crazy. C&C3's are just right.
I am very curious to see how this game works on the 360. I've been waiting for some more C&C action for years. And not that crappy Generals or FPS type stuff. I mean the down and dirty RTS. If they can make it so 360 players on Live can take on PC players on Live that will be greatness.

Like Martin mentions, the Supreme Commander specs are just sick. I doubt that game sells well at all since a small fraction can play it.

I thought they were well-done. The one with the bits of the space station raining down over the Earth was really cool...and when Kane takes over the broadcast it's like "Hell yes!"

I liked Generals - as a RTS - not as a C&C game. And I can't understand how you can play a RTS on a console.

It's a mouse type of game, isn't ?

I know what you mean about playing a RTS on consoles. It just seems so unwieldy for some reason. Admittedly though I havent tried since Dune II on Sega so it may well just be prejudice on my part. The main thing I think Id miss would be setting selectable groups (via ctrl-1,2,3, etc.) as I cant imagine that working with a controller.
Well, I just got my ass kicked my the AI. Still, it feels good to be back.

Now I have my multiplayer name reserved. I'll train on the demo until the full game comes out.
Just got done playing the demo and I was plesently surprised.Loved Michael Ironside and the visuals and interface are great. But it still has the same problem that generals had, crummy looking infintry, they do look better then generals infintry, but they still don't look very good.I'll probalby pick this up when it comes out.As far as playing this on the 360 I'd rather not.I beat Battle for Middle earth 2 on the 360 and it was alright but still not the way I'd like to play RTS games.
Just finished the tutorial. It seems like it will take a while to get used too but I'm liking it so far. And that cast... geeze. I know they're not huge stars but what a way to get some great genre talent.

Michael Ironside
Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica)
Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica)
Josh Holloway (Lost)
Billy Dee Williams
Jennifer Morrison (House, M.D.)
Shannon Cook (CNN Anchor... wtf?)

I had everything turned up to HIGH and this thing looks great. Even zooming in on some the vehicles and infantry is cool to look at. The detail is crazy. I haven't anticipated a game this much since DOOM III. And well we all know how much that one sucked. But I'm confident with the Command & Conquer line. My buddy and I were reminiscing the other day about Red Alert 2 (my first introduction to the C&C line of games) and man were those some fun times. I don't play video games all that often (or at all) but I think this one is going to take up a lot of my time.
I have to get a new graphic card, just so I can extend the life of my PC games. Goddammed AGP...

Those new Zone troopers are nasty, but when you see the NOD coming in with the laser upgrade and the Mechs that acquire the ability of the fallen units... shit....
I'm waiting in the queue to download this, but hopefully it's better than Command and Conquer 2. The first one and the Red Alert games are some of my favorite games ever, but not even the cinematic goodness of James Earl Jones and Michael Biehn could get me to finish Tiberian Sun. Thank God they remembered to include the fun on Red Alert 2.
Anyone pick this up? My buddy has a copy for me but I won't be able to get it until Friday. I'm psyched for this thing.
So nobodies playing this?

I'm at the GDI mission where you have 4 engineers and you can't lose them. Fuck this mission. It makes me want to destroy the computer.
Those were always my least favorite missions. "Now that you know how to build a base, here's a handful of troops. Have fun taking out the NOD army. Fucker."

Those kinds of missions were why I never finished Tiberian Sun.

I am.

Is this the one where you have to take out the NOD weapon supplies and you have 3 tanks, a couple of pitbull, APC and a Rig ? You need one or 2 engineers to survive to capture the eastern Reinforcement Bay. From there, it's easy.

And when the Scrin appears... holy crap...
I got by it by putting my engies into the APC's. Who woulda thunk it? I didn't care about the "bonus objectives". The final mission vs. the Nod headqaurters was a piece of cake. Once I got a surveyor at the top left Tiberium field and set up a mini-base there it was done. I built a shit load of Mammoth tanks and then I took them into the base and put them on Aggressive Stance. Mission completed.

And no kidding about the Scrin... Jesus. I'll end up needing a new monitor and some stitches in my hand by the time I'm done fighting these guys.
I loved Red Alert, but the trailer for this one is intimidating to say the least. It must be a nightmare trying to survive those huge waves of missiles.
Was finally able to get this, and I'm really enjoying it so far. It seems to be on par with RA2 in terms of difficulty, so it's not been to frustrating for me so far. Of course, I am still only about 5 or 6 missions in.
I say that, and then I get absolutely mauled in Croatia. I'm simply not attentive enough for this one, but I will perservere.
Croatia was a bitch.

Tip: APC's. These guys will win the mission for you.

2nd Tip: Build Mammoth tanks as soon as you possibly can!

I found this good walkthrough: http://www.gamespot.com/features/6168146/p-5.html

I've used it twice I think but it's nice to refer to if you get really stuck. It's not in depth or anything but it helps.
Oh yes, APCs kick a lot of ass this time around. Their even better than the RA2 IFVs, which is great.

I did finish those Southern European missiones, and I enjoyed the hell out of them. They were very tough, but not in the "I want to kill myself" kind of way that Tiberian Sun was.

My only disappointment now that I've reached the Scrin stuff is that it's probably going to be a couple days before I can get back into this.
Fuck my ass like a goat.

Those Scrins are tough bastards. To beat them ? Anti-air. That means packs of Pitbulls. 2 packs of 10 at least. Once you go there, the Mammoths will take care of those Tripods.

And I always have a bunch of engineers ready to salvage the fallen Tripods. It helps. A lot.
Those Planetary Assault Carriers are awesome. That Mothership is pretty wicked as well and so is the wormhole.

My buddy and I have played a few multiplayer skirmishes together. We've been on the same team and we would try and take on two hard Nod's and one hard Scrin on the same team. Our collective asses were handed to us on a gold, jewel encrusted platter.
Well, the GDI campaign is over. Pretty fun, if a bit easy. The NOD campaign so far is tougher, but having Sawyer brief you is so much fun. Not that Jennifer Morrisson is hard on the eyes, but it's Sawyer dammit.

And NOD has flying ninjas with bombs.
I enjoyed the Nod campaign more than the GDI one because it was much more of a challenge. Nod's just harder to win with. Plus the Nod missions tended to be a lot more frantic.
The thing about GDI is that even if you play single or multiplayer, you usually end up spamming Mammoths, Pitbulls and Firehawks, with some anti-infantry and some Zone Troopers. That's it. As soon as the rails gun upgrade is bought, the mammoths become nearly unstoppable. Only the Scrin airforce can do something.

Nod requires more finesse, as the workhorse of their force is still the Scorpion tank.
I love the Mammoth tanks. You're right about their power though. I always go for the rail gun upgrade ASAP. Then I build about 10 of them and the missions over.

I'm about halfway through the NOD campaign and it's pretty good. I liked the mission where you had to escort the Tiberium Truck through GDI controlled territory. Those flying ninja guys really came in handy there. I just flew them around and blew up the GDI base. Took awhile but I cleared them out.

The Avatars are pretty good when you can get a big group of them together. And upgrading them with the flamer thing is pretty cool.

I can't wait to play the Scrin campaign.

Question about the NOD cloaking field: how does it work exactly? Because I've used it on some units but they still get attacked. Isn't it supposed to cloak them so they're invisible to the enemy? Or am I doing it wrong?

They're supposed to be invisible, but a stealth detector such as the Pitbull or an Orca sensor pod could mess up your plan quickly.

So far, the Mammoth with Rail Guns takes the cake, with the Tripod and Avatar behind. But these two can be salvaged.

At the price he is, the Avatar is a support unit, not a ground assault pillar like the Mammoth and the Tripod. It's damn expensive to lead 5-10 built Avatars on someone when he had the cash to build enough units to defends against them.
I meant campaign combat when I said a group of Avatars.

But yeah even playing against the computer I know I can lose 10 Mammoths in seconds. Nothing like seeing your whole base get destroyed right before your eyes while you're yelling at your MCV to get it's ass moving.
I hate you guys, with your computers that can play new games.

Can't wait for the 360 version of this. Although I'm hoping I can turn the Live Vision thing off, cause I really don't want to have to look at the people on Xbox Live.

It's funny that you say that because this is one of that last new games my computer can handle. Which is fine by me since it's one of the few live PC franchises that I played when I was a kid.
This game has pretty low requirements to run compared to newer RTS such as Supreme Commander.

I'm still really skeptical about a RTS on a console, but if it works, all the best.

My remark about the Avatar applies to any other unit. The point is that the Mammoth has anti-air capabilities, unlike the others heavy units. That's how I figured my GDI tactic: Mass production of 3 units with support from others. I got bitch-slapped in multiplayer by amazing Nod players who utilized every single unit in the arsenal.

There's a fundamental difference in strategy between the 3, and the Nod campaign is slowly converting me into a future Nod online player.

Anyone with Vista get this running? The demo craps out on me right after install. Tried it on two different machines, same error.
I'd rather juggle with nitroglycerin than run Vista.

And beside, I'm not keen on paying to be a Beta tester. Still, good luck with that.
It's my job. And honestly, the only problem I've had with Vista, period, is this with the demo, and Darkstar One not launching, which is a developer issue, not Microsoft's.

MS's behavior this generation is completely different then their past. I am pleasantly shocked at them actually delivering good products. (Vista, Office 2007, finally replacing powerpoint, their new webtools, etc)

The gam doesn't support 64-bit, by the way.

I wouldn't think whales would care too much about that.

I'm enjoying the Xbox 360 demo quite a bit. I may pick this one up.
On a side note: training with comps will not prepare you against human opponents.
Certainly not.
Well there's a lot of people out there that do that, and complain that you cheat because you crush their asses...God, I don't know how people can play on Xbox live and hear them fuckers complaining and yelling...
How is this on Xbox? I'm really craving an RTS like you wouldn't believe, but I'm not convinced these can be pulled off on a console.
Red Alert came out on the Playstation back in the day. I had a friend who played it and really dug it.
Alright, I'm royally pissed at this Nod mission. It's where you have a few Shadow Strike guys, a Commando and some engys. You have to take over a GDI base and Scrin base and can't lose any of the MCV's. Time for the stomach ulcers to begin!
I refuse to call these Shadow guys by any other names than what they really are: Flying Ninjas with Bombs and Guns. Snakeyes.

I'm not there yet. I'm defending a GDI base while kidnapping it. And laying waste to some friends in multiplayer.

Boy do I want the balance patch to kick in. The podcast said it included nerfing a bit of the Mammoth speed and AA, boosting the GDI/NOD AA batteries, boosting the flame tank, Black Hands and bikes, reducing the cost of the Avatar, and so on.

Good stuff coming up.

Just keep in mind that only the turrets will shoot at your guys before you take something over.

What worked for me is getting the ninjas to fly into the back of the GDI base in the bottom left corner and take out the anti-infantry turrets near the construction yard. Then, you send in the Commando and some engineers though the little town to the north of the base and around to the back of the base, and then taking over the construction yard, along with the other stuff at the back of the base. Then, you build a war factory, and take out or capture the rest of the base. Also, make sure you either take out the battle base or capture it as soon as possible because that thing will be a major bitch if you leave it alone.

Also, you'll probably have to try this a few times to get the timing right.
