Was that one as much fun as it looks? I picked it up a while ago on VHS, have yet to watch it, and wonder if it was ultimately worth my $1.99.

It has a great special effect gag at the front of the film, with tiny heads pounding out of this dude's forehead. That alone is worth your 2 bucks. Which is good, cuz the movie is a dud. Some neat special effects (including the said Scanner Cop blowing a metal plate out of someone's head) but ultimately, it's DTV cheesy awfulness.

When I heard it was being remade, I wasn't upset. The original is good, but (I know many will disagree) it was flawed- some of the dialogue wasn't too hot, and the lead wasn't great, especially opposite the mighty Ironside! It's a good movie though, with a killer idea.

With a little spit and polish and a sharp young director, a remake could've been really special.

But, alas, things don't bode well.

What about the "Robocop" remake that supposedly gained traction a few days ago? "Scanners" was never a shade of the movie that was.
