Is "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2" really that gay?

I just need your opinions if it really is the "Brokeback Mountain" of slasher movies?
SO fucking gay. It's gayer than Brokeback Mountain. Brokeback Mountain features no all-male shower scenes, and no gym teachers in a leather bar.
It is so gay, it puts Ann Coulter on a killing spree.

On a side note, what´s gay supposed to mean in that context anyway?
You don't have to look too closely to see the subtext in ES2. In fact, wasn't it confirmed by the director?
The sexual chemistry between the two main male characters (excluding Freddy) is so intense that it could power a small city for appoximately 11 days... it's that gay.

You mean Gayman Gaystein? Yes.

Freddy is driven back by the "girlfriend", but the last scene shows he is always lurking about, ready to strike with his blades of gayness.
And you can't spell gayness without anus.
It should have been titled A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddie Mercury's Revenge
post #9 of 70
Part 2 is so gay that they were forced to hire Craig Wasson for part 3. No one is more hetero than Craig Wasson.
Of course, without the gay subtext, it'd be a dreaful, lifeless film, since this is where most of the entertainment value comes from.

And the exploding canaries.

Figures. Is your party dead and dreary? Just bring in Rip Taylor and gold confetti! And naked wrestling.

And exploding canaries.

Or the title should have been called "A Rainbow on Elm Street" or "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy vs. Freddy".

Goddammit, stop being awesome for a few months so I can give you Rep.

Freddy even pulls the skin back from his head to reveal a throbbing organ. Fucking GAY.

It's so gay that it makes Corey Haim's poster of Rob Lowe in "Lost Boys" look like a goddamn (hetero)sexual tyranosaur.
It's so gay it likes Margaret Cho.
i remember when i watched it for the first time and the kid is naked at that leather bar and then his teacher gets put in bondage and whipped. and then thats not even the gayest part. the actor that plays the main kid...whats his name (jesse?) sounds so lady like and he ends up in grady's bed room talking about how somebody is inside him. still, i actually think 2 is better than 5 or 6 because the gayness makes it funny. the idea that they made this movie and it was a big hit is hillarious. plus its got that line where freddy goes "help yourself fucker!"
The lead guy went into gay porn. Just like "Evil" from "Fright Night". How gay is that? Pretty fucking!
This thread is awesome...
Well, Clu Gulager's in this, that's hetero, isn't it?

Aside from that, yeah this movie has so many gay moments in it. The part with him singing and the little baseball bat just about took the fucking cake. All this movie needed was Stephen Geoffreys in it. Gayness aside, I still think it's a decent Nightmare flick.
I don't know what you people are talking about. There's absolutely nothing gay about this film...

oh man i totally forgot about that part where he's dancing to that tape! HAHAHAHA! I love that movie so much.
Gayer than ice capades
This movie likes Coldplay.
Well, this movie did try to stick its tongue down my throat at summer camp once and was always saying "let's wrestle", but I guess I never did put two and two together. I figured it was just confused.

Has anyone said:
This movie gave my DVD player AIDS.

If so, that just isn't right.
This movie was supposed to meet me at the MOMA, but it stood my ass up.

I remember reading Clive Barker's horror book and Robert Englund commenting on the character in this film being a bi-sexual male and all the homoerotic undertones and such and haven't only seen it a few times as a kid, it never quite dawned on me. The next time I viewed it, it was clear as day and I was amazed how anyone could not notice it.

The one scene in particular that nobody seems to mention is the scene where Jesse and Grady get into a fight on the baseball field after one of them pulls down the other's trunks. There's also the dream sequence (or was it in real time?) where Jesse has a snake crawling on him. That's not even getting into the many scenes already mentioned.

I remember that seen that was EXTREMLY gay, I was hoping at the time that would be the only gay seen in the movie, sadly I was wrong. That movie was gayer then a movie about to men figure skaters who are band for life and end up having to skate together, good thing the y didn't make a movie.......never mind.

Peruse this thread.

P.S. Speaking of Barker, Rawhead Rex is gayer.

Gay or not, that movie is so hilariously bad it will forever be 'mucho hetero' in my mind.

Is it too late for me to point out that Nightmare on Elm Street 2 is so gay that Victor Salva turned it down because it was "too on-the-nose"?
It's never too late.

It's never too late. Just as it's never too late to point out that Elm Street 2 is so gay that "Rent" is actually a musical adaptation thereof.

Edit: Or is it adaption? I always got those two mixed up.
I'd watch a musical of Nightmare on Elm Street 2. Shit, I watched the Spider-Man Musical-Whatever-the-Fuck at Universal Studios a few years ago. This couldn't be much worse.
Sure it could. It could be based on Nightmare on Elm Street 4.

Clive Barker dedicated one of his novels to his "husband"; if he had anything to do with this flick it's totally gay.

So Clive Barker likes anal sex with guys. What's so gay about that? It's not like he's picking out curtains or singing Judy Garland showtunes.

Although doing all three at the same time would be impressive. It amazes me how surprised people get when they find out he's gay. It's like they're going to go home and burn their copy of Hellraiser.

I don't know if I'd phrase it quite that way, but it was always pretty obvious. Go re-read "In the Hills the Cities". I knew as soon as I got to the cringe worthy point he hadda be. But like Bluehulk says, who cares? His early stuff's still awesome.
