The most underrated AC/DC disc is...

THE RAZORS EDGE. I've had it in my collection for awhile now, but I didn't realize until yesterday just how awesome and rockin' it is. The first four tracks, 'Thunderstruck', 'Fire Your Guns', 'Moneytalks', and 'The Razors Edge', make up one of the best openings ever for an album. While the rest of the disc doesn't pack quite the same knockout punch as those four, barring 'Are You Ready' and 'Let's Make It', there's still enough of that trademark muscle-tough precision and pile-driving rhythm AC/DC has become known for delivering better than just about any rock n' roll band. Even when the band patches on the filler (e.g. 'Mistress For Christmas', 'Got You By The Balls', 'Goodbye & Good Riddance To Bad Luck'), they do it so effortlessly that some disposable fun can be had.

My, there's nothing like listening to a pure, unadulterated AC/DC album to get the adrenaline flowing when the weather's getting good.

It is a great album. To my mind the only clunkers are "Let's Make It" and "If You Dare." The rest is a blast. The title track is very underrated, one of their heaviest tunes.

Too bad the next two albums were so hit and miss.

I feel that Razor's Edge is probably Brian Johnson's best AC/DC album aside from Back in Black, but I think overall, Powerage is a more underrated album. Every song just flat out ROCKS, but you rarely hear it get talked about.

Man, yeah, the title track is really cool and menacing. This was the 2nd CD I ever bought, after PUMP, and just before FULL MOON FEVER.

I have to go to Angus Young on this - "people say we've made 10 albums that all sound exactly the same, and that's totally incorrect. We've actually made 11 albums."

Bah, even from Angus it's a silly thing to say. They may never stray too far from formula, but even so their sound has shifted a bit over the years. Compare The Razor's Edge with High Voltage for example.

AC/DC lost quite a bit when Bon Scott kicked the bucket.

POWERAGE never hit me. The last time I listened to it I don't remember being all that pumped by the music. It's certainly not as immediately gratifying as some of their earlier discs.

He may be fundamentally right to an extent, but I can't think of many metal/hard rock bands that have fine-tuned their sound with a dependability as AC/DC has over the course of three decades. When they really hit their stride, they belt out rock anthems for the ages.

I don't know if I'd call 'Razor's Edge' underrated-if I recall, wasn't this their biggest seller after 'Back in Black'? If we're talking underrated, I'd have to go with either 'Flick of the Switch' or 'Fly on the Wall'. I always thought 'Fly' was their heaviest sounding out of all the Brian Johnson years.
