It's something we'll always disagree on, and I respect that - but it's very easy to overlook the flaws on the game if you're willing to accept that Rockstar succeeded in creating something that felt real. Yet it never felt real, except in the way that reality doesn't reward success at such a low level - which in a game, is hardly enticing.
I genuinely think the artistry involved is limited to the characters alone - and since they're involved in a plot that never sucked me in, made me perform scripted missions with badly playtested physics, such lacklustre gunplay and rewarding all this with something that never really worked for me in the first place - another portion of a dull looking, realistically designed - but ultimately boring city.
That aside, because that's my stance on the whole issue - a mission pack involving bikers within the same region, using the same engine to do what I suspect will be the same missions with different characters - just doesn't inspire me.
The thought of all this being transplanted to Tokyo is the same depressing feeling. New engine, fresh start - create a truly new experience. The last one wasn't it.
As for the multiplayer - the appeal wore off quick. Even with the right people, the engine bogged everything down. Planting it in the city itself was lazy, they needed custom levels for the experience depending on quantity of players, not an isolated area.
The co-op had potential. Shame it wasn't more randomized.
