"Don't Copy That Floppy" Old-school Anti-Piracy Video

Nice blast from the past:

Don't Copy That Floppy

Way better than the newer "Piracy is Stealing" ads. Check out the subtle guilt at work, the stereotypical nerdy programmer, and the undeniable musical force of nature that is "MC DP".

No more Carmen Sandiago??? The end of the computer age as we know it...

I was smart enough to know that I didn't have to "copy that floppy." Instead, I would just take the install disk with me. And I never would have started playing somputer games if my dad hadn't brought me a copy of Wolfenstein 3D that a friend of his had let him borrow.

That said, that video is definitely awesome. Especially with the random programmer nerds and the lawyer, followed by the girl repeating what they said after the whole thing was over.

This was probably the funniest thing ever when we watched it in 4th grade.

Yeah, it wasn't about copying the discs, it was about photocopying the manual so you could tell what was the first word in the third paragraph on page 18 to get past the copy protection in the game.

That girl was a bitch in how she parroted them, too. "Well, if the shoe fits..."

I can't tell if that comment is a nostalgic sentiment or a maturity dig. Either way, it works.

"This was probably the funniest thing ever... when we watched it in 4th grade! Hahahaha, loser."

It's remarkable that it actually lasts a little longer than that. MC DP appears to be finishing it up, but the video ends while he's in mid sentence.

You just can't contain the immortal MC DP in a mere "The More You Know" PSA. He needs room to stretch his soap-box rapping muscles.
