What are some good stand-up CDs that you all have found? I love Lewis Black’s stuff, Jim Gaffigan also rules and I’m pretty excited for the new Naked Trucker CD to come out

Hedberg.

"You know when they have a fishing show on TV? They catch the fish and then let it go. They don't want to eat the fish, they just want to make it late for something."

Seconded. "Strategic Grill Locations" and "Mitch All Together" are great. Alonzo Boden's "It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time" isn't too bad if you didn't OD on his stuff during Last Comic Standing.

I'm not a fan of CDs as I find a lot of performers work best when you can see how they act out their material. Lewis Black is probably the best example of this considering just how hilarious his double-takes are to witness.

That said, you can't go wrong with Carlin.

I'm finally going to see him on the 31st and I cannot fucking wait. The show had been delayed twice since November, and shit am I still concerned he won't make it for the show.

I recommended this over in the Greatest Stand-Up thread, but Woody Allen's Standup Comic is a great collection, and since Allen was a mostly verbal comic, none of the effect is lost by only hearing him.

Bill Hicks Rant in E Minor. Sheer brillance. Also, if you want some classic genius, I suggest shelling out the dough to get Lenny Bruce's Let The Buyer Beware.

Doug Stanhope - Die Laughing & Deadbeat Hero

Not to divert this into a Hedberg quote-a-thon, but I have to throw in one of my favorite non sequiters ever: "It's the cutest infestation ever!"

Todd Barry's stuff, if you like Gaffigan.

And from personal experience, I would recommend any Steve Martin CDs (Let's Get Small--"manic" Steve, Wild & Crazy Guy--"classic" Steve, Comedy Is Not Pretty--"experimental" Steve).

Dave Chappele - Killin' Them Softly
Eddie Izzard - Glorious
Eddie Murphy - Delirious

And for the Hedberg-a-thon: "I got an ant-farm recently... Those fuckers didn't farm shit!"

I'm usually spending Monday nights Feelin' Kinda Patton. Two more sips!

Patton Oswalt is horrid.

I second the Todd Barry, and I'll add Jim Short.

I don't have a girlfriend, I just know a girl who would get really mad if she heard me say that.

You championed Dane Cook. Inexcuseable. In any way.
