Shadow of the Colossus hits the big leagues...

Well, it's an Adam Sandler movie, but putting that aside:

Quote:
Reign Over Me must be one of the first Hollywood films, if not the first, to deal with games thematically and intelligently. While other industry pundits try to figure out how to take the latest blockbuster game and turn it into a movie or vice versa, Reign Over Me already has an insightful leg up: Let the games speak for themselves. Characters bond through games and lose themselves in them, only to find themselves again. They enjoy the simple act of play. "We're starting to get people in Hollywood who have perspective of what the video game experience is like," says Roush, "what it can feel like. And all that gets integrated into Reign Over Me."
Interesting article on a gamer/film editor's effort to include a mature/relevant representation of gaming in a mainstream movie.

It's something I hope other filmmakers consider seriously in the future.

How many movies actually attempted something like this other than The Wizard?

Swingers and The Break-Up both contained video games and Vince Vaughn. The male characters in both films are presented as immature individuals still becoming adults though.

Why did you choose that title as the topic ?

was it for shock value ?

Don't really see anything shocking about the thread title.

What's bothering you?

I was expecting some sort of news on Shadow of the Colossus getting some sort of PS3 upgrade or something.

I had visions of a baseball game (or at the very least a go-kart spinoff)

Never mind I just found out that Adam Sandler plays SOTC in the movie, you left that part out in your article.

I'll tell you what, if I was on the brink of blowing my brains out due to depression, that is the LAST game I would be playing.

Yeah seriously -- "Bring your dead love back to life by destroying these majestic colossi, each time being made to feel more and more guilty about it. Enjoy the healing!"

"Me and my horsey are going to slay some Collossi. You're always there for me horse, just like my family used to be. I love you horse. Let's just go jump over this gap and...OMFG! No!"

That moment better be in the movie.

No shit man, I had to hold back man tears when Agro went down the hole.

The ending sure was bittersweet. How long did you keep trying to run back to the girl and not get sucked in at the end?

"I can make it, I can make it" *tumbles backwards for the umpteenth time* "No I guess I can't. Damn false hope programming."

yeah I heard that game was like a work of art or something.

I spent about ten minutes trying to avoid the vortex. I was gonna be pissed if I had to beat that big asshole again. I hope this gets upgraded to next-gen systems.
