Chad Paronto sucks a fat cock. I'll miss Craig Wilson.
Combined weight of Paronto and Wickman = Neptune.

Paronto
McBride
A. Jones
Redman

These players cannot leave soon enough.
Does Redman have video of Bobby punching his wife or something else that would keep him active on the Braves roster? He's just awful.
We'd be better off with a plug of Red Man as our 5th starter.
Or even the rapper Redman (as long as Method Man could catch those games).
I would pay $1,000 of my own money to attend a game with that battery!
Well, the Braves have spit out the Plug. I think his ERA was double the minimum wage. Good riddance.

Please predict that Andruw will go on a 4-month tear....
Well, Chipper is supposedly going to return to the lineup today, and not a moment too soon. This team has got to start scoring more runs. The Mets finally hit a nice little skid, but we haven't been able to take advantage of it because of the cold bats. Here's hoping that Chipper can pick up where he left off.
Go Salty! We need to find a way to get him in the lineup every day. And if it means killing Thorman, so much the better. He's an insult to light-hitting Canadian first-basemen.
This thread's been dead for a while...

God, I hope we get Teixeira. If we do, I'll dance a jig.

I want him here NOW.
No kidding. I've been refreshing espn.com constantly for the past three days waiting for it to happen.

espn's usually shit. onestopbaseball.com and yahoo tends to be faster.
Yeah, onestopbaseball is an excellent site.

Harrison is apparently the pitcher they want, but I hope JS can Jedi Mind Trick them into taking Davies.
Even if the trade involves Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Class AA left-hander Matt Harrison and Class A shortstop Elvis Andrus? Because thats what I'm hearing...

yes
Yup. And that's a lot to give up, but I'd do it. We need Tex. NEED HIM.

Also, check out the terrific shirts that Talking Chop is selling:

I'm buying one of these to wear to Nats games.
All sources reporting that it's a done deal, with the Braves also getting Mahay.

I am commencing the jig.
I'm really going to miss Teixy, but he certainly didn't want to be here. But I don't blame him for being upset because they never even tried to offer him an extension. But I can also understand the management's hesitation because Mark's a Boras client. Not on good terms with him. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Now I'm more worried about the downgrade of the defense with Salty now at first. Hoping for the best.
I can definitely understand missing him, but, all things considered, Texas got an excellent package of young players in the deal. I think it was a fair trade that will wind up working out well for both teams.
And those are the best kind of trades. I don't think there's any doubt Mark will give a huge boost, offensively and defensively for the Braves, enough to catch the Mets. Mahay's probably at the top of his game right now coming off the DL, a solid long-reliever.

And the prospects do show a lot of potential for the coming years. I can see this being a definite win-win trade.
Wow, we got Dotel, as well -- JS has been a busy man!

And I bet he's not done. We've now got a surplus of bullpen arms, and Ledezma and Thorman pretty much have to be traded (Thor's out of options). Let's hope we can grab a decent starter sometime today to solidify the back-end of the rotation...This team is starting to look pretty darn tough.
How has Dotel's velocity been since coming back from surgery? His K/9 is still stellar, but I haven't actually seen him pitch this season.

It makes you wonder how attached the Braves are to Bob Wickman.
Teixeira has some pretty wild home/away numbers. About a 70 point swing, which is not surprising considering how the Arlington ballpark plays. Still, he's an upgrade, but I wouldn't be surprised if he struggles a bit. Of course, the NL pitching could also present a big difference. We shall see. Regardless, I thought Mahay being included in this deal was also big.
I think this Teixeira guy is going to work out!

Last night was a party. A total party. I am still reeling from the whisky and double maduros.
From time to time, I hate the fact that I moved away from Atlanta. HATE it. Last night was one of those times. God, I would love to have been at that game.
Is this the day the Braves figure Oliver Perez out? Tex's reverse splits this season are a tad out of the ordinary.
God, I hope so. Perez isn't nearly good enough to have dominated us the way he has. It's like he turns into Sandy Koufax when the Braves are in the opposite dugout.
I gotta think the Braves have enough now to grab the Wild Card. Better then the Brewers, Cubs and any N.L. West team. They're also really the only team that could knock the Mets out in October.

That was fucking fun. They still won't make it (if they somehow do I'll do something really wacked to celebrate) but they showed some fire and will end up with a nice improved record.
Yeah, they got hot about 2 weeks too late.

Let's hope we acquire a quality SP in the offseason (deal Edgar?), and thus be ready to renew the streak next year. Teixeira for a full season...I like this.

Thank you Braves.

Were there really that many bad calls against the Brewers? Seems the Brewer announcers were crying about it after the tag at 2nd in the 7th.
Brewer fans already have Ned Yost, one has to wonder why MLB had to kick them while they were down. And, uhm, go Braves? Nope, I just can't do it... I don't care how close the Phillies are, I just can't.

And fuck did that 1999 World Series nearly kill me, I felt like one of those computers getting fed a logic bomb.
Don't know how you still feel about him, Nick, but this could be good news for you if you still feel the way about him as you did at the beginning of the season:

Andruw Jones will not be on the Braves in 2008
post #91 of 97

Makes me hard. Good riddance Andruw! People who ignore their coaches need to be booted in the ass hard. I hope he goes somewhere where he doesn't get seen a lot by me.
Great move -- it's like Schuerholz just served a big, steaming glass of FUCK YOU to Boras.

Now, we need to find someone to play CF...
Hurray! Striking out multiple times and going back to the dugout with a big smile on your face annoys the shit out of me. I wish they had traded him before this season started to try and get some kind of value out of him.

I felt the same about 2004.

Someone will overpay for Andruw next year. I'm just glad the Yankees are set with Cabrera in CF or he'd be wearing pinstripes next year.
So, Schuerholz is no longer the Atlanta Braves' general manager. Given his comments in recent years, it was inevitable, but I never thought it was this inevitable. With two-thirds of the big three gone, how long before Bobby Cox follows suit?

By the way, the rest of the National League East thanks you.

Andruw's gone. Whatever collateral damage there is, it was worth it.
Holy shit, what a shock. Talk about the end of an era.

I hope this doesn't mean Glavine comes back. There is NO WAY he was ever coming back under Schueholz's watch.
