Joe Theisman kicked outta the MNF booth

Ron Jaworski looks to be the leader in the clubhouse to replace him.

Is there really any difference between the two?
It would be grand if he was replaced by Lawrence Taylor.

Between Theisman and Jaworski? There's a huge difference between the two. Jaws watches too much film and Theisman doesn't watch enough.

I don't care for Jaws that much, but he and Kornheiser seem to be friends, and have a good dynamic when Jaws is on PTI. So I see this is as an overall positive move.

Plus Jaws and Tony have chemistry which was sorely lacking this past season.

Jaws could break down the film of a Pop Warner team running a basic sweep and be able to teach you something.

Ron Jaworski has a clue. Joe Theismann has a perm.

Maybe I'm the only person who liked the smug, condescending Theisman. I HATE Kornheiser and Tirico is boring as hell. Jaws is fantastic though. But with Kornheiser still left I doubt I'll listen more.

I like Kornheiser because he can bring that touch of humor like Miller did but he knows his sports enough to actually hang with a Theisman or Jaworski.
Apparently, the tension between Kornheiser and Theisman was pretty bad. I am pretty happy about the decision. I really like Kornheiser in the booth (hell, I liked Dennis Miller as well) so I'm pretty happy that he will have someone to really banter with.

Joe Theisman is a cocksucker

Now, if only their respective networks would fire Joe Morgan, Bryant Gumbel, Tim McCarver, Dick Vitale, and Paul Maguire, my day would be complete.
He's knowledgeable, but yeah, he can be an arrogant ass. I used to love watching Maguire get him all riled up, especially when Theisman proved to be wrong about something.

I've read ESPN is in discussions to move Theisman to a "high-profile" analyst position. Maybe a studio position on Countdown?

I agree. The tension was down right embarassing at times. I've got to disagree about retaining Kornheiser, however. The man obviously knows his sports, but I'll be damned if that was evident from his performance during game telecasts. There were times that made me believe he'd never actually seen a football game in his life. And his fawning over whatever ABC/Disney shill was forced into the booth was equally embarassing. For god's sake, man, it's only Christian Slater.

Bring on Jaws.

No I miss him too. Luckily he's still on NBC.

The one thing I will surely hate is Jaworski's over developed man-love for Peyton Manning.

And yet it was Tony who asked Slater - "Have you ever even watched a football game on tv before?"

I think that's his role, though. He is supposed to represent the "everyday man", who may not know about football. This is a role I think he does well. He acts like he doesn't know much abiout football, without talking down to the people watching.

Theisman was so clearly biased against certain teams, and so clearly impressed with his own career that I couldn't take him.

Anyone who wonders what the difference is between Theismann and Jaworski has never actually heard Theismann and Jaworski.

Theismann is a king-on-his-throne jock douchebag who contradicts himself so many times it's ridiculous (watch the 4th quarter of the Cards-Bears game last year to see what I mean). The fact that he worries so much about his credibility within the NFL community is the reason he destroyed his credibility with the spectators.

Jaworski is a good-natured film nerd who will actually give Kornheiser a reason for being there by engaging him in conversation and taking some ribbing.

I'm still not a huge fan of Tirico but Jaws is a HUGE step up from Theismann.

Also, Joe Buck should be doing something befitting his opinion of himself, like polo or cricket.

I'd really like to see Cris Collinsworth back in a major-network booth.

I like the move anything is an improvement over last year. MNF crew was horrible arguably the second worst broadcast team ever assembled just barely ahead of the former ESPN Sunday night crew. HMMMMM Theisman was on booth crews. Coincidence?

I agree with most of you as well Aikman is probably the best game broadcaster out there right now. I remember about 5 years ago when a young LT and a young Brees were on the Chargers and Buck made a point that San Diego was starting there own version of the triplets and Aikman said " I will give you the Emmitt vs LT comparison but Drew Brees is no me." I cracked the hell up with how honest he was even the booth started laughing and when they threw it back to the studio they were cracking up as well. For a former player he is awesome because lets face it most of the former players suck really hard.

Kornheiser is supposed to represent himself, an opinionated sportswriter who likes mild pop-culture references and tweeking ESPN when he gets the chance. He's not supposed to be a film nerd like Jaws but bring sports knowledge to the table. He's just supposed to make observations and funny comments.

He's Woody Allen writing a sports column.

Most of the time he's reading from a script.
