Cool....I just got a phone call from Glasgow. They need to do an ISDN Voice Over recording with Brian Cox in an hour and they want me to engineer it! (What Brian Cox is doing in Calgary I have no idea)

Sweeeeeet! I'm off to find my Manhunter DVD and get to the studio.

Sweet Jesus! I envy you so much I popped a vessel in my brains.

This thread would have been 1000 times cooler if you had just called it "Working with Cox".

Hey Ryan, if Cox is cool get him to spin a few yarns about his time spent on the set of THE GLIMMER MAN. Thank you.

Man, I don't know what I'd do with myself if I ever met Mr. Cox. You're a lucky bastard.

EDIT: While you're recording him, see if you can get him to give a shoutout to CHUD. Even better, have him give a shoutout to CHUD as Uncle Mitch. It'd be glorious.

Now that's cool. He ruled in Zodiac, and his performance in Super Troopers was bar none one of his best.

"Ah hell give me the soap!"

He seems like one of those guys who would have ZERO sense of humor, but I heard him the Opie & Anthony show once and he was just goofing right along. It made my man-crush even bigger.

Dammit, the title lead me to believe that this thread was advertising a job opening as Cox's secretary or man-servant or something... I'd so be there.

Oh yeah. You might be meeting Mr. Cox, but I saw Dr. Cox... at the grocery store not too long ago. Sure, I didn't say anything to him, but he was at least 10 feet from me. Good ol' Johnny C McGinley. I also saw Dick Van Dyke at the pharmacy right next to the grocery store. And I see Brad Garrett all the time at the coffee bean downstairs. Apparently Cindy Crawford goes to that coffee bean too... but I see freakin Brad Garrett.

I'll probably meet Jim Belushi and Whoopi Goldberg at ADR recordings in the next month or so.

He's a pretty cool guy. Really laid back.

I asked him about Glimmer Man just for you, Molt. He said it was an okay set but not a lot of fun. Apparently the Segal is a really decent sort but, and I quote, "not much in the way of give and take when acting"

I totally geeked on him when I said how much I liked him on Deadwood. He was happy that I didn't say Manhunter. He used to be proud of that role but then "Tony" made it his own and now he can't watch his performance without seeing what could have been in his performance.

Thanks for asking, Ryan. That's interesting to hear his thoughts on Lecter. Good to know he's an easy going guy.

Seagal not into give and take? That's surprising. He always seems like an actor's actor who demands the best not just from himself, but from those around him that practice the craft.

I'm surprised. His Lecter is vastly superior to and far scarier than Hopkins's ever was.

I'm with you Frank. I thought his was far more nuanced. Not that Hopkins was bad, in fact quite the opposite, but I thought there was something special in Cox's performance in Manhunter. (I think that's why I was geeking so bad to work with him....well, that and Deadwood)

You'd think. But apparently he's quite demanding is his craft and sometimes he just doesn't feel like a relatively poor quality actor like Cox could keep up so he doesn't try as hard.

Agreed.
