Star Wars stamps

Vote for your favorite.

I voted for the Luke one since that seemed to best represent the spirit of the saga. Although, predictably, Vader is ahead right now.

I saw this earlier and thought about posting, but the "Star Wars Order" thread distracted me.

Voted for the Falcon, still the coolest ship in sci-fi.

Really? Really?

But yeah, the Luke one is of the most iconic image in the series (at least for me) that sums up the thrill and promise of adventure that "Star Wars" represents. Definitely the nicest looking one, too.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but they're all Struzan, right? They sure look like it.

Kinda bummed they didn't put the droids together.

I can only imagine that USPS would do a book of 5 different ones, right? If not, I'm amazed that they chose some less-iconic characters as the defining representation of Star Wars.

That said, I voted for Palpatine. I'd love to send Valentines and/or Easter cards with that sourpuss on the envelope.

We can thank our tongues that we won't have to lick the backside of Jar Jar.

If I read right, they're only releasing one.

Where's my Dooku stamp? Where's my Terence Stamp stamp?
Yeah, you're right, Dickson. Collectors could buy the whole sheet (one of each stamp) and then the winner gets a book unto its own.

No IG-88?? This list is invalid!

Kind of interesting how the iconic Han and Chewbacca image has been altered to where Han is facing a new direction and doesn't really look like Harrison Ford. Anyone have any ideas why?

*makes hastily-constructed bawdy joke about turning Natalie Portman around and licking her*

Don't know, but your right. That looks nothing like Ford. If these are the work of Struzan, likenesses were never his weak point, so there has to be something behind the change.

Wow Scriptwriter, that actually kind of made sense. Color me impressed.
Indeed he does make sense. I'm all out of snark for this thread...until tomorrow...

Nobody is allowed to use Harrison Ford's likeness without his express permission, and he rarely gives it. The Indiana Jones model in the last video game didn't resemble Ford either.

Well I voted for... 41 cents?!! Curse the trade federation!

How does that work? How much Star Wars merchandise (toys, books, etc.)has been plastered with Han Solo's mug, yet these stamps are suddenly off limits? Not saying that you're wrong, just wondering why I can go out and buy a Han Solo toothbrush with Ford's likeness but he would say no to a stamp.
I don't know how recently this ban on Ford's face went into effect. I do remember reading about it in connection with the videogame. I guess he just doesn't like seeing his face on merchandising. Kind of like Robin Williams' tiff with Disney over the use of his voice to sell Happy Meals.
Can you find that article Greg because I have never heard of Harrison not allowing his likeness to be used when it came to Star Wars.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind a little more info on this as well. Why would he allow his likeness on all those shitty Star Wars novels and suddenly this stamp is a no-no.
It's entirely possible that I'm talking out of my ass, and it was only that game that was having to alter the character's likeness. But I'll look around.
I've heard that, too...but it seemed more like rumor.

...eh?

In any case, I voted for Obi-Wan, because Sir Alec Guiness is quite possibly the most amazing actor...ever...and I know that he wouldn't approve of my reasoning, since he despised all of the Obi-Wan hype...but I'm doing my part, damnit!
I was pissed when I read about this. Not about the Star Wars stamps, but about the price of stamps going up.

Oh well - I voted for Yoda.
There should be a Force Ghost Obi-Wan that's part of the "Forever" stamp campaign.
Definitely loving the Yoda and Chewie.
