Xbox (original)/X-Men Legends II Question

Yeah, so I still have the original XBox, so sue me. I'm in no hurry to jump on the video game bandwagon, as I have so little time to play.

ANYWAY...I've been getting into X-Men Legends II as of late, and my used copy started giving me a "Disc may be dirty" error, usually when I was trying to exit the "Change Team" screen. I cleaned the disc, but I still kept getting the error, so I bought a new copy (only $17!). Within 2 hours, I started getting the same msg again (which really pissed me off). So my question--is the problem with the XBox or is this a bug in the game itself? I can sort of "hear" when the disc is about to fail. So now, I only change one thing at a time, then exit and save. Because it seems that the more I change, the more likely the exit is to fail. It's really fucking annoying--to the point that I went ahead and did the cheat codes to level up all my players because I got tired of leveling them myself and then the disc died.

Question 2--If I got a 360, is this game one of the ones you can still play?

Sorry for the rambling question. Thanks for any advice.

It's your Xbox. Long story short, during the Xbox console's production they started using a cheaper and shittier DVD drive that's more prone to errors. I have this problem with GTA: San Andreas pretty often.

No, its not BC- however, there's an update coming soon, and since it uses pretty much the same engine as "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance", it'll probably be added.

I had this problem around 6 months after I got my Xbox(used from a friend). Fable and the GTA's gave me the most problems. I ended up voiding my warranty and opening that sucker up. There was essentially a carpet of dust/lint lining the sides. I pulled that all out, lubed the prongs that the laser piece slides along, and closed it back up, other than a hiccup or two it's been fine ever since(several years).
Just make sure if you go that route, find an illustrated walkthrough online, and don't get near the power supply, even with the system unplugged it can seriously fuck up your day(and life).

Thanks for the info. I've essentially stopped doing anything in the "Change Team" mode besides changing the team. Anything else--adding gear, etc.--I've been doing via "Level Up". And I save above and beyond anything every time before I make a change. I've made it almost all the way to Apocalypse, so I'm almost done with the game anyway.
