This seems like an absolutely awful move for Wahlberg, because I know he wouldn't have fit in any of Night's previous films.

I'm conflicted. I am an unapologetic Wahlberg fan, and I root for him to be a success. So in some respect, a Shyamalan film isn't an atrocious idea, and it sort of shows that he's seriously moving up the Hollywood ranks.

But "Lady in the Water" is an absolute turd, which shattered what remaining faith I might have had in M. Night. I just can't get excited about his new movie, despite the fact that its probably a decent career move for one of my favorite actors.

There's also a Skipp and Specter book called The Bridge that deals with the same premise. Sadly, I don't think Shyamalan's new film will have grass that turns into razor blades.

I still can't decide wether M. Nights worst contribution to Lady was the script, the direction or the supporting role.

That was funny. Made me laugh and everything.

I think the movie has an interesting concept. I'll reserve judgment until I see where Shyamalan is taking it.

Shyamalan gets way too much hate around here. You'd think he'd directed Crash or something.

The script, or whatever, the early draft that was rejected when it was still named THE GREEN EFFECT is up at simplyscripts.

It pretty much reads like WAR OF THE WORLDS meets 28 DAYS LATER. The arc of the main character is pretty much the same, including the early escape from town, trying to distract a little girl from the ongoing horrors, meeting the army and also a weird stranger on the way. I wouldn't say it's a complete letdown, but the concept doesn't really live up to expectations.

It's certainly way better than LADY, but in the end MOST in here will hate it with passion. Sad thing is, there are plenty o reasons. Especially when we'll see Mark Wahlberg trying to negotiate... with a plant.
