Boston Red Sox 2007: Rolling the Dice-K - Page 3

Tito sucks a fucking cock. Why are they bothering to rest Dice-K if they're going to bring him out in the 7th, having already thrown 98 pitches? Predictably, he walks 2 because we cannot put anyone away, Lopez serves up the game winning homer and the Sox fold like bunch of pussies (way to respond in the 8th, Ortiz-Lowell-Drew...made Dan Wheeler look like Fruitbat Mo Rivera).

What a joke this team has become. It's shocking. I know we're hurt, but jesus why can't we hold a lead? Without a doubt it's one-and-done in the playoffs if we don't get our shit together. I can't remember a worse month for a manager than this past one for Francona. I hope his days are numbered, I really do.

In fairness, I wrote this after the Sox gave up the go-ahead homer. However, my opinion of Francona doesn't change. We've been TERRIBLE in the 7th/8th innings for a while now and that won't fly in the post-season.

What I'm really wondering is, why are they absolutely refusing to use Devern Hansack AT ALL? He's been just sitting there while Francona goes with his usual tandem of Delcarmen, Timlin, Lopez, and occasionally Corey. Does he have no faith in Hansack, or do they plan on saving him for the post-season? I would love to think it's the latter, but it's probably just another bad decision by Tito. I don't hate the guy nearly as much as most do, but yeah, the guy isn't the greatest manager. It's really funny that he's actually in the running for AL manager of the year.

Oh, and good on the Sox for at least clinching a playoff spot today. Are they the first this season?

The Sox are indeed the first team to clinch a spot this season. The huge lead the Sox built-up early in the season paid off last night.

I have no idea what Tito thinks or why he uses the players he does, when he does anymore. I thought he was hired to replace Grady Little and to stop the leaving players in too long nonsense. We can only hope he reverts to '04 playoffs Francona.

Congrats to the Sox, for both proving me wrong last night and for clinching. It's great seeing Tek and Drew possibly heating up, but ultimately Tampa's 'pen is apparently what our bats really needed these past few weeks.

Heading to The Trop here in a bit to see Wake pitch. It's nice having the Rays close-by as I can always get great seats for a decent price. It's too bad, though, the Rays and their stadium have been a joke ever since they entered the league.

Finally the Division is over with. And I can't believe I watched the whole post-game with the Orioles/Yankees updates from NESN.

Bring on the postseason.

What an insane way to win the division. Yes, we can finally relax for a few days and look forward to opening the playoffs at home for once!

Congrats Red Sox. 11 more to go!

Now that's how I'd like to see the Sox take the AL East. Not just with a Red Sox victory (and a much-needed one for Dice-K), but combined with a Yankees choke. Great great stuff. Papelbon was more pumped than ever when the news broke out. Now hopefully we can win these next two games and the Indians can lose at least one so we can pick and choose our match-ups. Also, shame about Buccholz. But it's definitely for the best. Hope to see him in the rotation in '08.

These pictures are phenomenal:

CELEBRATE!

Especially the one of Paps with the rookies (Paps is in most of them anyway). I'm glad they're getting a taste...hopefully it will motivate them even more to win it again, and again, and again, etc.

Although I still feel like making the playoffs is more important than winning the division, I'm very happy and am relieved the Sox finally closed it out. We finally have a reward for this long season. With 11 more wins, we can all really celebrate.

That Papelbon sure is a nut, running around in a spandex outfit with goggles and a case of ber on his head. Good on him. Apparently he also danced a jig to "Shipping Up To Boston," his theme song.

These pictures are all brilliant, but this one:

really knocks my Sox off. Yea, I said it.

Paplebon is everywhere

Another fantastic picture

BOOM.

Last time I saw a ball hit that hard, fast, and far out of Fenway, it was All-Star Weekend and Mark McGwire was at the plate.

Such a lovely moment to see. Here's hoping we can lock down the sweep tomorrow in Anaheim.

And that Papelbon is such a nut.
