The trippy cult animated favorite is finally making it's DVD debut

Hot damn! I've been waiting years for this. I'm a huge Chuck Jones geek, and I had utterly given up hope on ever seeing this movie again. It didn't help that the majority of people I've mentioned it to hadn't ever heard of it.

I watched this religiously as a kid.

Saw it on TV once. Tried to read the book with little success. I'll definitely give the DVD a rent.

I love the attempt to translate Feiffer's artwork in the animation but the movie is a disaster. It completely dumbed down one of the most entertaining books of the last 50 years.

I loved the book as a kid and thought the movie was a great attempt at a translation to the screen. I just didn't like how the movie cut out a bunch of great stuff from the book. This will be a great movie to have for whenever my wife and I decide to have kids.

Oh thank heaven. I always loved that bit in the beginning where Milo switches back and forth between live-action and animation. "Stop! Stop! You're holding up traffic!"

I have vague memories of the movie from seeing it on TV once as a child, but I just re-read the book, and enjoyed it very much. I'll have to give this a look when it drops.

Let's not forget the score and songs, which are so fundamentally sticky and memorable that I'm able to recall vast chunks of lyrics without having seen this lost gem in probably 20 years. "Don't say there's nothing to do in the doldrums," indeed.

I'll buy this happily to share with my as of yet unconcieved broodlings.
