Rotten Tomatoes of TDKR is currently at 86%. Any guesses on where it will go towards the end of the week? I'm expecting a dash of backlash and ending at 82%.

Just saw DARK KNIGHT RISES. I punched myself every time something awesome happened. Tweeting this from the hospital.-Patton Oswalt

Nah, it's rising.  People at IMDb are tracking every known IMDb reviewer, and the percentage is actually up to 89%.  RT just hasn't updated yet.

My pal texted me the sales for the Dark Knight trilogy has sold double the tickets the Marvel marathon did.

I added to my dismal failure in predicting Moonrise Kingdom's BO.  Theater was really full.

As was mine when I caught Moonrise Kingdom on Sunday.  I had a hard time finding a seat and I was by myself!

I'm predicting it'll end up lingering on a solid 90%, just 1% under TDK. Though, I've never seen so many 5 star reviews coming from a mainstream film like this.

Really? It's not even as well reviewed as the last Batman. I'd say the reactions are pointing towards 'good enough' rather than 'mindblowing instant classic', and the criticisms in the more negative reviews seem reasoned enough that I'd be surprised if there isn't another batch of rottens before the dust settles.

Yeah, I'm reading the same.  It's getting positives, but no-where TDK level.

There have got to be better ways to be a fan of a movie.

Like creating multiple accounts to vote up the score in the imdb top 250!

I mean, I've done some over-the-top stuff, like seeing Fellowship of the Ring seven times and foolishly calling Attack of the Clones the best Star Wars movie ever flush with the rush of the midnight show.  But that was always related to the film itself, and my own enjoyment of it.  I didn't feel the need to desperately track movie reviews and rating percentages in order to receive some kind of mythical validation for liking them.

For the record, Attack of the Clones is holding strong at 67% positive.

Too soon, man.  Too soon.

Yeah I don't think anyone should be looked down upon for being genuinely enthusiastic and appreciative about a movie, but that's not what this kind of fanboy lunacy is about. Like most cases of groupthink and pack behaviour gone bad, the actual subject they're rallying around is kind of beside the point. Luckily with this stuff it's all just words on the internet.

To be fair, 87% (current) is better than just "good enough". Good enough is 74% The Amazing Spider-Man. Looks like it's going to be just where Inception is on that front.

Just to change tack and stir the pot a little: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is sitting at around $525million worldwide as of Monday, with only a potential far-future Chinese release left for overseas and three days' worth of figures to count before the Batman battering begins. Does anyone still think it's going to pass $800million worldwide?

I mean 'good enough' in the sense that it's the sequel to a movie that's massively popular and mostly acclaimed, and apparently doesn't drop the ball too drastically. I suspect when all is said and done this movie will always be overshadowed by its predecessor. I'm expecting a decent, serviceable end, but not a movie that's all that remarkable in itself. I'm not convinced it's as zeitgeisty as The Avengers proved to be, it'll be interesting to see how it fares after the inevitably massive opening.

But here's the thing -- who gives a shit? What business is it of yours who gets their validation and where? As long as Dark Shape isn't hate-bombing reviewers with death threats, I could give shit what sort of delusional validation he gets out of life. There are far, far shittier ways to delude oneself. This "fanbase" controversy is such a first world problem. And I feel like the people yelling the loudest from the mountaintops about how wrong it is are Star Wars fans because, lets face it, they are suffering the most from fan-validation deficit.

Nerds who cry about other nerds needing validation are just nerds who need validation for not feeling validated.

My comment wasn't directed at Dark Shape, as I didn't get the impression he was the one doing what he was talking about.

And I'm sorry, I do think this obsession with Tomatometer percentages is the worst kind of mania.  It boils everything about a film down to some imperfectly-derived raw number where nuance and clarification are thrown out the window in favor of an unreliable binary system of "fresh or rotten."  Especially when many of the aggregated reviews don't fall neatly into either camp.  It's the distillation of film criticism and appreciation into mathematical formula, and too many people are using it to declare their pet film the winner of some mythical contest.

I don't really care one way or the other what the fanboys do because, for me personally, nothing Batman related will EVER beat the first Keaton Batman. Best Batmobile, best Joker (I liked Heath for the performance, but he was a little much for me overall), best Batman, best Alfred...and Billy Dee Williams.

In other news: that Dark Vador burger looks like the most disgusting thing ever.

Dark Vader finds Jive Ass Turkeys' lack of faith disturbing.

The Dark Lord of the Sith himself seems to have disowned it. It's not even named after him..."Dark Vador"? Who knew the French would stand apart.

Sorry, I'm contributing to a massive derail.

I have to agree with part of this. The Burton Batmobile is the only car from the Bat films I'd actually want to be seen driving. The others would make you look like an attention seeking sugar addict or a Neo-Nazi.

Caught and sigged.

Also agreed.  It is both the slickest and meanest Batmobile I have ever seen.  Yet somehow it has become popular to hate it.  It's either too impractical or it looks like a 12 year old designed it.  My inner twelve year old says fuck practically.  I have, and always will, love the Burton-mobile, with West's in a close second.

I'm one of those weirdos who always thought Batman's car shouldn't be this enormous piece of machinery that screams "HEY, BATMAN IS IN HERE!"  But that's just me.

Yes i do, you have to first take into account that TASM will most likely take in 70-100 million more domestically over it's next 3 months in theaters, so that alone puts it over 600 million worldwide.  200 more million internationally over the next 4-5 months, yes. I say TASM will end up at 280-300 mil domestic and 800-850 mil worldwide when it's said and done, bank on that.

I agree, since when is 87% on RT ever bad, that's great. I believe when all the reviews are in TDKR will end up somewhere between 85%-90%. Hell i think 74% is pretty damn good for TASM, especially considering all the hate that film was getting just for being a reboot.  The overall grades of this years 3 summer comic book films will be about on par with 2008's 3 summer CBF's, give or take a few points. However box office wise, 2012 is going to blow 2008 out the water.

175 for me.  That's about how much the Avengers made minus 3D.  Women came out to see Avengers, while DKR has some imax bump and a higher theater count.  Additionally, every five or six DKR shows make up the run time of Avengers.  I think it's mostly a wash.

Plus DKR isn't coming off an actor's death for an opening weekend bump.
