White House: Millions of Emails May Be Missing

How convenient.

Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Millions of White House e-mails may be missing, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino acknowledged Friday.

"I wouldn't rule out that there were a potential 5 million e-mails lost," Perino told reporters.

The administration was already facing sharp questions about whether top presidential advisers including Karl Rove improperly used Republican National Committee e-mail that the White House said later disappeared.

The latest comments were a response to a new report from a liberal watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), alleging that over a two-year period official White House e-mail traffic for hundreds of days has vanished -- in possible violation of the federal Presidential Records Act.
I've seen monkey shit fights at the zoo more organized than this administration.

See, that's what happens when you let your secretaries send out e-mails about the calorie count in the mess hall's raisin muffins.

"Let's see, I don't need that forward about the sick girl in Arkansas.... and that warning about the gang initiation, that can go too.... 'District Attorney firings'? Oh, I don't need that!"

I can't even bring myself delete my old emails, and these holier-than-thou, arrogant pricks "lose" how many? 5 million?

This is beyond stupid, this is the level of stupidity of people who think pro wrestling is real.
This isn't stupid, this is methodical.
And it will get played out for a bit until something else will happens in a few weeks and all will be forgotten and forgiven like usual with this administration.
In all fairness, most of the e-mails dealt with debt reduction , penis enlargement, and hot young slutz.

But I do love how yet again, this administration is either evil and/or incompetent.

But the 'something else' will be another instance of malfeasance revealed by another investigatory committee.
Anyone who honestly believes that these emails weren't lost on purpose needs to have their head checked.

*Cough*Nixon Tapes*cough*
Uh, cant they be recovered? I'm not an expert, but isnt it true that nothing is really deleted forever when you delete a file via recycle bin or whatever?

I would like if Alberto Gonzales, Rove and Wolfowitz (how anyone could be this guy's girlfriend is beyond me) are all chucked out of their jobs this year. There's no reason why they shouldnt be, but who needs reason in America anyway.

Or maybe they could just pass away, it would make up for us losing Vonnegut and Baudrillard this year.
I'm actually surprised people think they were lost by accident.

No wonder these pieces of shit get away with anything they want. This country is full of fucking idiots.
This may finally be the Bush admin scandal that connects with the public. Everyone understands basically how email works, so obfuscating the truth is going to be much harder in this case.
Exactly, I cant wait to see how they sell/spin the shit out of this one.

But I can see your typical American thinking "Well gee, I accidentally erase stuff on my computer all the time! It can happen to anybody!"

It keeps going. Nothing stops these guys... nothing. They've gotten away with so much ridiculous shit it's un-fucking-believable. Any other President would have been impeached long ago but somehow... somehow these guys can keep going. Fuck your country for voting him back in. I know it was half the country so fuck that half. Fuck anyone who supports this Administration. I really don't give a shit if you're a Conservative/Republican but if you support the Bush Administration you're a piece of shit and deserved to be punched hard in the face.

I'm glad I'm not American, then.
I think this can only be a stalling tactic. Eventually a large portion of these emails will get found. Bush is probably hoping to have this stuff come out after he's left office.

That second line stuff wasn't directed at you. It was separate from the first line. My bad.

The problem is manifold. I don't dispute that a lot of dunderheads voted for Bush in 2004, but blame also goes to the massive election fraud that went on in both elections. Part of the reason these stories don't stick is also that people have really turned into lemmings in this country, following each inane non-story the mainstream press mashes in their faces. It's like people have lost trust or faith in their own capacity to react rightly - it's like they need the Hannitys of the world to tell them what warrants their ire (i.e. the Rutgers bullshit). The mainstream media is corporate owned and controlled and does not report news so much as steer the dialog where the administration wants it to go. I do believe the tide is turning and people are starting to wake up from the stupor thanks largely to the empowered democrats in congress who keep the right stories in the news, but wide scale censorship has been raging for years unchecked.

The most critical component we can hope for is awareness. If people are aware not only of the issues but of the way they're being obfuscated in the mainstream that's a major step in the right direction. It does no one any good to give up or give in. The tide has to turn some time.

In the sage words of our leadership, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice ... won't get fooled again."

In all fairness, Bush actually received less popular votes than Gore in the first election, but thanks to Supreme Court the recount attempt was overturned so Bush got the WH.

As for the second election, Americans were guilty as charged. Maybe that's why they are suffering the consequence of their action with Katrina, Iraq, and slew other scandals. But hey, we are safe under Bush so everything is forgiven, right?

/rolleyes

Actually, about half of the country doesn't even participate in national elections. But yeah, fuck anyone that voted for em' anyway.

I'd really like to try and convince another 25% or so to also stop voting, because then we'd be in a position to call in another Constitutional Convention, and potentially rewrite our entire government, but fat chance of that happening, and if it did it's a longshot that it'd create a whole lot of positive change.

Hey, you know those e-mails that went missing? Okay, they're not missing. The RNC totally has them. But will they give them to Congress? No! King Bush gets to review them first and then, if Congress asks really nice, and says "pretty please with sugar on top," then the White House might let them sneak a peek. You know, as long as they're not held responsible for anything they may have done. Quid pro quo.
I don't understand why Congress isn't going directly to the RNC to get these emails. And why on earth is the White House in charge of handling crucial evidence in a Congressional investigation? Are the Dems' hands tied or are they just being outflanked?
The Dems are being pussies like they've been for the past God knows how long.
If I read most of the numbers correctly, it seems as if the country has lurched left of the Democratic Leadership. That would be nice. Out of Iraq, into healthcare, and enough foreign entanglement. Unlikely.

But I cannot say I'm surprised that D.C. is once again out of step. Unrestricted Lobbying has that effect.

I think the word you're looking for here is 'incompetence', on both sides of the aisle.

With the Republicans, it seems more and more like it's criminal in nature, while with the Democrats it is a strident march towards making things even worse than they are now.

I'm going to have to disagree here. I lived through the Clinton years, and Clinton was okay.

True, our government can make things a lot worse than they are now; the Democratic Caucus' agenda doesn't rank high on that list.Democrats may be spineless, and they may be incompetent; however, their agenda does not, in any way, approach the horror that has been the last six years. If Gore had won out in the Supreme Court, I don't think Iraq would be the clusterfuck it is today.

Pick your bone with the Progressive Agenda; Iraq is what defines us nationally, whether we like it or not. And that is a one-party affair, regardless of the votes.

They are going to the RNC, and the RNC is simply refusing, deferring to the White House's request. And then what is Congress supposed to do, send in the FBI, which answers to the DoJ?

Everybody Sucks is the philosophy that fucked the country over in 2000.

They should be subpoenaing the IT guys at the RNC.

Why is it that when Republicans are fucking up, their constituents have to then place equal blame on the Democrats? Its like you're programmed to tare the meter back to 0.0 so that it makes your guys look less bad.

Objectively, the Republicans are worse than the Democrats. Yes, the Democrats aren't fixing the problem the way our government has fixed these problems historically (that would be fearlessly) and it sets a bad precedent. But the onus of the blame falls squarely on the Republicans' shoulders.

So when you say "worse than they are now," you should tread lightly.
