| PHNOM PENH, Cambodia -- A protest by two opposing groups of Cambodian Buddhist monks has ended in a fist fight on the streets of the Cambodian capital, leaving at least one monk hurt. About 50 monks dressed in orange and brown robes were marching through the city to protest alleged mistreatment of their fellow Cambodian monks in Vietnam. When they reached a Buddhist temple, another group of about six monks confronted them. They started a fist fight, and some of the monks threw water bottles at each other. It isn't clear whether the smaller group was acting independently or under someone's orders. Vietnam allows only a handful of state-sponsored religious operations. That's led to clashes with some groups, including Buddhists. |
