Nice writeup. I agree with you about the original... and it's going to be interesting to see what they do with this one. Those pics are definitely promising.

Nothing like the first? I'm not really getting the point of this.

well the point seems to be they wanted to cash in on the success of the first one. Im not too sure thats possible since the whole idea behind pumping out some crappy sequel from some hack director usually means the film should come out withing a year or two of the original. they're a little late to the table. ti west isn't a hack i guess. i like what he tried to do and failed miserably at with the roost, a complete shitfest but this producer broad for CF2 sounds like she doesn't have a clue.

I just want to see how Rider Strong is worked back into the movie. Well that and this movie doesn't seem like that bad of an idea. I dug the comedy in the original, and if this one has a lot of comedy, as well as the buckets of gore like that picture displayed, than I'll be there to see it.

yeah rider strong's career hasnt exactly taken off. maybe he'll heave a bigger role than i thought. i still think the bigger return is giuseppe andrews. he cracked me up in the first one. i love cabin fever so much. that movie scares the shit out of me.

What he said. The idea of dying fom a destructive, disgusting disease is an effective one for me. Gives me the willies big time, but holds a kind of morbid fascination at the same time, in that I want to see the progress of the disease for some reason. Looking forward to this.

So The Roost isn't any good? I've been meaning to see it, but haven't had a chance yet. I still want to check it out. I liked Rider Strong in the original Cabin Fever... definitely curious to see how they bring him back. I wonder what the budget is for this sequel.

The Roost is just fine. It's a micro-budgeted indie picture with a few sequences worthy of any mid-level horror show.

It's not pefect, nor is it particularly original. But it's a professionally mounted, pleasantly forced-irony-free and expertly wrangled debut with really a great atmosphere, keen sound design packing it with genuine dread, which these days is more than enough to pique interest.

Ti West's got a real talent and I can't wait to see what he does with this.

There was a thread devoted to the Roost put up a little while ago. Darkmite8 was a strong proponent. I have added it to the Netflix queue on the strength of his recommendation. We'll see how it goes, but I think it sounds like an enjoyable (but admittedly low budget, with all that usually entails) little flick.

just because i said the roost sucks doesnt mean you'll think it sucks nor does it mean that it does suck. but for the record, it sucks.
