Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

A couple of different sizes to choose from: http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/784/784319p1.html

Looks good, but of course you can't judge the gameplay from that alone. Supposedly it's all in-game footage, save for the logos and shots of the unfurling flag.

I'm excited for this. CoD is my favorite console warmonger and I like how they are starting to get away from DubyaDubya II. As much as I love to play in that time period, there are only so many times you can fight through Operation Market Garden.

I know a few games have tried unsuccessfully to recreate the Vietnam experience, but I would love to see someone from the next-gen crew try.
That looks pretty good, I just hope they really do something interesting with modern communications systems on the battlefield.
Now THAT looks next-gen. I'm impressed.
Looks great, but I wonder just where it's supposed to take place.Looked like Iraq but it's hard to be sure.
Looks impressive. I hope that ghillie suit in the video has a use. I'd love to actually be able to snipe without sticking out like a sore thumb. Of course for that to happen they'd have to get rid of the red dots from CoD 2. Infinity Ward put that one out as well, so who knows.
I hope it doesn't take 50 bullets to kill one guy in this one.
My understanding is that theyre pulling the old fictional conflict in the near future card.

I think everyone should play Operation Flashpoint and its spiritual successor Armed Assault for their "one shot and you're dead" kicks.

Trailer for CoD 4 looked amazing though.

Didn't like COD3.....but this has me interested.

COD3 was developed by a totally different company and is acknowledged almost universally as a stopgap release. If MS didn't need a big-ticket game like COD to fill out the 360 release roster, COD3 would have been another 'between the lines' release like Big Red One. (Which was actually a lot better than COD3, and done by the same people.)

I really wanted to like COD3 but it was just not as good as 2.The story just kept getting in the way of the game and veteren was far to easy.I never once wanted to smash my controller.

Game Informer had a great feature on this game in the last (I think?) issue. Looks freakin' hot. Can't wait to see more.

Wow

Holy shit.

Just wow
Looks good to me. Never played any of the other COD games much, but after hearing of the developers' pedigree, I might check out COD2.

COD4's plot sounds like something out of a James Bond Jr. episode.

Good-looking footage, but I'm always nervous of FPSes being simultaneously developed for the PC and consoles; CoD 2 on the PC was fine, but it had bits of "consolitis" seeping in around the edges.

Damn! That is what next-gen is supposed to look like. Not too far from the Killzone trailer either I might add.

Daddy like.

Looks like a must-buy.
Ghillie suit!

And look at the smoke and particle effects. I thought they were great in CoD2 but it looks like they've refined them even more. Nice.
looks awesome. I am intrigued by the multiplayer
post #25 of 208
This game keeps looking better and better.

Finally. Yeah that's right, FUCK YOU Mr. hides in the same spot with a shotgun camper. Your ass is toast now.
I actually had fun playing CoD 3 - except that you couldn't skip the level intros - hit X to skip people! It's standard!

This looks killer - How will I afford this, Halo, GTA, Mass Effect, etc? Better rob a bank. I need two gunners and a wheelman. Who's with me?

Someone mentioned as a current-gen (I think we can stop using next-gen) Vietnam game - I'd like to see that, as well as a World War One game - trench raids, gas attacks, crazy shelling - would be sweet. Watch out for lice and rats!

They started a Beta registration lotto today and it's going for the next 24 hours. Anyone who can tear themselves away from Bioshock for a second should do so and fire off an email with the form in the link. WARNING: The beta is currently US-only, with rumors that they'll expand later.

Xposting the form in case of internet asshatery:

From what I've read in various forums and beta impressions, the level cap is either 11 or 20 (I went with 11), streak rewards are the Right Dpad and explosives are the Left Dpad. Hope to see some of you on the killing fields.
Good job posting this. I went to charlieoscardelta to check on the beta and couldn't get the site to load. Email sent.
so the beta is going live monday, sign up on charlieoscardelta at noon PST.

I imagine the internets will die at this time.

You know, after seeing the bevy of multiplayer videos that have been out on the net for the past week, I am really fucking pumped for this game. It looks like the first great successor to Counter-Strike (in its beta heyday).

Halo is halo, and we all know we are getting it, but COD4's multiplay may be something special.

Speak for yourself, buddy.

COD4 looks pretty incredible. I'd try for the beta, but I'm sure my comp would just give me the finger.

Will try for beta, but have never been lucky with these things.

I think they used the intro movies to hide the "Loading. Please Wait" screens.
I'm buying a 360 just for this.
Holy Crap, I'm totally downloading the public beta right now. I just got my redeem code in an email. So for those of you who have been trying to get in, check your email, you may have your beta code now. I will report back my first impressions after I've played a few rounds.

*Edited to add: I know I sound so gay for COD right now, but I wasn't expecting to get in.
Awesome, man; good for you. Looks like I've got nothing this wave.

Monday at noon PST is another drawing but you have to go to the official site and you know how that shit is when everyone wants on. After six straight hours I can honestly say I love it so far and the maps while big are not impossible to learn and the RPG-ish elements where you get XP for your kills and assists is freaking genius and I bet you guys are gonna dig it. The way it works is you get XP for kills, assists and that XP unlocks some things. Then there are weapon based "Challenges" that unlock other things. The "Challenges" are basically so many kills with "X" weapon and so many headshots with "X" weapon. Each one of those unlocks certain things.

Also for it being a Beta things seemed really well balanced. The only issues I noticed so far was the infamous shitty spawns of COD, and some glitch jumps that allow you to get on some roofs and exploit that advantage. Hope to see you guys there sooner rather than later.

sounds awesome b-metal. My question seeing that I havent played a call of duty game in ages is about the guns. Do you feel a difference between multiple assault rifles or within the submachine gun category.

One thing that looks fucking awesome though is that if you start with a sniper rifle, you get a guilly suit...THAT IS FUCKING BADASS.

The differences within the sub machine guns and the assault rifles are noticeable. The M16 for instance is short bursts and the M4 is fully auto but can be fired in bursts if you quick squeeze the trigger. The AK sounds like an AK and has vastly different sites than either of the other two guns. Now I haven't unlocked all of the other weapons yet but so far there is a huge difference. Ghillie suit is awesome if you use it as intended i.e. SNEAKING. I've had people walk right in front of me and stop, allowing me to stand up and knife them in the back. Great feeling right there.

Oh and another thing about the multiple assault rifles, they all differ one from another in how you rig them. I may have a silencer on my M16, you may have a red dot aiming reticle, this may seem like not a big deal but it is. With a silencer, if you shoot, you will NOT show up on the map as a red dot to the other team. The red dot aim reticle IMHO really helps you aim quicker thus making you slightly faster than the guy with "iron sights."

Oh you can also earn "custom camo" for your guns. Like I said the RPG element is awesome and really lets you feel like your doing more than just running and shooting.

I hope these retards are better at making video games than they are at distributing beta invites. You'd think after their website crashed last week, they would have figured out a strategy better than "Everybody visit our site at exactly the same time."

They didn't.

Madness? This is BETA!!!

*warning* Bold words and profanity from this point on. Loose Lips Sink Ships.

QUICK-UPDATE:

First: I'm as pissed as you guys.

Second: Here's the low down.

As the many of you who have stayed home from work, school, and neglected loved onces can attest to, CharlieOscarDelta.com has officially died. Today. Again. On Beta sign-up day. While we're all waiting for the countdown timer to hit zero.

We were assured relentlessly time and time again by the company who runs and maintains Charlieoscardelta.com for us that they have adequately prepared the servers for this massive Beta roll-out.

That was fucking bullshit.

I'm not going to lie, I'm fucking mad as hell.

Fuck this first come first serve registration, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE COMMUNITY.

NO MORE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We will be taking care of the guys who've spent the last 6 months on the site, reading all of our updates, participating in our forums, and staying home all day today refreshing the site to get a token.

YOU WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF, and we will make sure that everyone has an equal chance to get into the beta REGARDLESS of depending on the the site.

So here's the current plan. We are cracking whips and making sure the site gets back up and running. We're going to do away with the first come, first serve and are going to have open registration for 24 hours.

So whether you're able to get on the site within the hour, or log on at midnight tonight, you can sign-up and have an equal chance at a token.

We will then take that massive database of sign-ups over the next 24 hours, and distribute all available tokens to the members who sign-up.

We're doing everything we can to make sure this site crash does not effect your chances for Beta glory.

So keep the comments, emails, and calls coming guys, it's just fueling our fight to make sure you guys are taken care of.

CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR UPDATES, as I'll keep you guys FULLY in the loop.

HEADS ARE ROLLIN'

Um, could you put all of that in quotes since you didn't right it? It seems like you just went apeshit till one clicks the link.

Sorry about that, I'll fix it.

No problem, just didn't think you'd want everyone telling you to chill out. Sometimes people skip the links.

However it is good to hear that they are taking steps to remedy the situation NOW rather than LATER. Good on them.
fuck them man.

what did they think would happen?

This limited beta bullshit is a crock. Why limit it at all?

There is really no excuse for infinity ward to be fucking this thing up AGAIN. I also really dont appreciate them passing the buck off to their ISP.

They are just making this entire process far more complicated than it needs to be. Just make it a free download for everybody. is that so hard?
I just got finished signing up for the beta. You might want to try it now.
Any word on whether the level cap was raised or not?
I read on the GameTrailers.com forums that it wasn't.
