Guests at the event were even invited to reach inside the goat's still-warm carcass to eat offal from its stomach.

That's a ballsy way to promote your game.

Too bad the authors of this stunt are sending out CVs by now.

Finally, some good Sony PR! God knows they could use it...

*does double-take*

Waiiit a minute...

It ain't easy being kvlt.

So, where does this leave Gorgoroth? If SONY is using freshly decapitated animals and topless women to promote a videogame, where are those of us promoting Black Metal and Satan worship supposed to go from there?

I tell you, I get so tired of The Man coopting alternative culture and making it mainstream. Soon, everyone will be slaughtering animals and eating them at parties. Where does that leave metalheads, huh? Nobody thinks about us. Now we have to start having real human sacrifices at concerts, babies on pikes... You can't get away with that most places. I'm never going to get to see a show where I live again!

Thanks a lot, assholes.

I don't see how anyone can say games like that don't lead to violence. Just reading the news article made me want to beat someone senseless; I know if I were there, I would have gouged out someone's eye with the stem of my broken wineglass.

I think its time for someone to design a game where pissed off kids stalk and kill Sony executives. I feel like playing that game right now.

.... so fucking what? A dead goat is a dead goat. It's not like they bled out an innocent bystander as an offering to Ken Kutagari. The marketing team wanted a goat, the butcher was all "Holy shit, I have a goat that I was gonna kill anyway" and there you go.

Throwing knives, naked chicks and a dead goat? Sounds like a bitchin' party to me.

It's kind of pointless to kill a living thing just to promote a video game. Now if they were serving free hamburgers and drinks I'd be right there. I'm not sure what they would serve in Britain. Hell, for all I know they all eat raw goat.

Like Master Shake(and the article) said, the goat was already dead. It's not like they pulled an Apocalypse Now and started hacking a live animal to pieces in front of the crowd. I see nothing wrong with it personally.
Still though, PETA's going to have a shit-fit, and they should have known this would backfire in some way.

Actually...

Talk to Jack Thompson. I'm pretty sure somebody already did that.

Remember though, kids: Games don't lead to violence. Marketing does.

(EDIT: It really does sound like a "bitchin'" party. I went to a birthday party when I was about five or six where we ate my friend's pet goat. It was truly excellent.)

I'm pretty big on animal rights, but come on.

Humans murder thousands of animals every day because they taste good with ketchup, but Sony buys one slaughtered goat and suddenly they're the bad guy?

Too bad it's an outright lie. There was no God of War II launch party in Athens, at least not in my knowledge. I've seen no promos, no press releases, nothing.

Now wait a sec...they did say it was in the magazine.

Is that Paris Hilton in that pic?

That clears a little of it up. The sheer desire of the entire internet to jump back on the "HATE SONY" bandwagon over this is goddamn ridiculous. Anyone who is appalled that there's one less goat in the world now should remember that every burger they've ever enjoyed was mooing a few weeks prior to being eaten.
