Georgia stinks!

Having lived in Central Florida for almost 2 years now (originally a PA resident), I'm used to the forest/brush fires on the news reports. But yesterday, my wife and I were outside and smelled something burning.

Apparently (not kidding), it was GEORGIA: http://www.540wfla.com/pages/localne...rticle=2052962

You'd think I wouldn't find it too odd that you can smell the next State over (I grew up bordering New Jersey after all)...

Georgia who?

Why does the St. Johns River flow north?

Because Georgia sucks.

Seriously, this haze is awful.

Looks like those boys in Hazard County are pullin some serious shit!

Damn, my bad.

I saw the link for this thread on the main page and thought it was going to be entertaining review of the film "Georgia Rule".

My bad. I'm going to have to look elsewhere for my Lohan put-downs.

I thought the person who told me it was from Georgia was full of shit. Apparently not.

The haze wasn't too bad for someone like me who spends way too much time inside of bars (and doesn't smoke!), but it does suck that the fresh air isn't all that fresh.

This statement alone justifies the existence of this thread.

It's an interesting event, but I can't say as if we're getting any of that miasma over here.

I'm jealous.

Please, you Floridians owe us anyway for being such greedy bastards over our water. A little smoke inhalation is the least you can do.

Tampa too far south maybe? Winds are probably taking it out East.

I thought for a second I was in LA on Sunday. I'm waiting for people to start turning into zombies here in Orlando (the undead kind, not the retired elderly Floridian kind) from the "mysterious" fallout.

Lakeland's getting the smoke. Makes an otherwise nice day kinda crappy.

You realize these fires started about the same time that school in Georgia had their first integrated prom, right? The Almighty has spoken!
No smoke of death here in North Tampa, I'm surprised it's made it all the way to Lakeland.

Georgia does indeed stink, great thread title!

Lakeland should be glad that something other than Pro Wrestling has decided to stop by for a visit.

Now Florida itself is on fire. There was a lovely cloud of smoke all over Orlando yesterday, and it's still around today. And Subtropical Storm Andrea is blowing all that smoke right back into us. In fact, forecasters are saying they hope Andrea comes ashore and rains enough to put out the fires. Swell. We're relying on the Towering Inferno maneuver.

Yeah, the news last night said 50+ out of 60+ counties were on fire. And New Smyrna Beach is being pounded away by waves.

Rich, we're like Atlantis. Wanna take bets if we're engulfed in flames or sunken into the ocean first?

Finding out about the erosion, I turn to my wife last night and say:
"Well it's a good thing we're in the middle of the state."
She says: "Yeah, surrounded by fire."

Ugh.

My contacts are all itchy, burny, and cloudy. Going outside sucks. My wife didn't take my daughter to the playground today because of it.

That's your solution to everything, move under the sea. It's not gonna happen!

There'll be no accusations, just friendly crustaceans... under the sea!
