Yeah, I just got red boxed by flyarz for defending myself. I don't get the point of the backlash. Was it the fact that I got positive points from Nordling or the manner in which they were given? (as in this thread) If its the posting in the thread that is causing the smiting, then just fucking lock the thread.

Otherwise the liberal use of negative points just comes across as ego gratification. I could be wrong, but I doubt highly that Slater, Andre or any of the "respected" chewers who happened to post in here got neg points.

Devin has stated that he will give neg rep to anyone talking about reputation points just because it gets so fucking stupid to talk about.

Reps are fun. It's fun to complimented for a joke or a good post (by the way, it may just be me, but it feels jokes are rewarded more than high quality posts, which kinda sucks, and I'm just as guilty of it as anyone).

The problem is that this type of discussion leads to everything getting all politicky, which leads to the type of shit we had right before Brad and Charlie and all them left, where every post lead to insults and inside jokes and all sorts of bullshit. Noone could have a decent discussion.

The boards were getting great again recently I feel, and I fear what this rep system may do to that. It's nice to rep people and all that, but come on, this thread has HOW MANY replies? 76? And the Prognosticator thread only has like, 8? It distracts and it's really really dumb.

So hey rep, but rep responsibly. AND TELL EVERYONE HOW MUCH YOU ENJOY THE PROGNOSTICATOR COLUMN, GODAMMIT!
