Well, actually, as I've been discussing with my therapist, I suppose I err more on the side of transexuality more than anything. Huh.

An amusing sentiment, but somewhat inaccurate. My sexual activity with men usually involves me being very submissive/servile, and infrequently truly aroused(read:erect). I'm uncomfortable having the sexual focus being upon myself. With women, it's...well, who am I kidding? It's the same thing, except I'm the dominant partner, by a substantial margin.

Wow, i've tried to post thrice in this thread and I've had my long post deleted each time. Long post short, I saw my name and thought I'd post.

I thought I was bi leaning to gay until I tested it out, and found that when at a gay bar, I am much more interested in the femme lesbians that the guys. I had an alcoholic emotionally unavailable mom during my childhood, and my dad was the only one who gave me consistent love and support. I was terrified of getting too close to a girl and being rejected, so each time it happened I ran back to my pot haze, tied down my sex drive and convinced myself that if they didn't want me I didn't want them. I called myself gaynadian when I first got here in an attempt to give some solidiity to my disparate emotions, even if that certainty was based on no experience. Talking to a therapist and older male family friends has been a huge help, especially the charming guys with beautiful wives who have confided in me their initial sexual uncertainty.

Pat, you're a smart, open and honest kid trying to figure yourself out. You are willing to internally try and articulate mixed feelings other would just repress. All I'm saying is, don't jump to too many conclusions until you've tested them out. It took me a while to realize that only women give me spontaneous erections, and before that there was a lot of doubt and uncertainty. I'm not saying that thinking you're gay is a form of confusion, just that it can be for young mostly straight guys who are willing to try and get to the bottom of themselves. What amazed me the most was that the close friends who confided in me their sexual confusion are the ones who consistently get the most attention from girls and who seem the most sexually adjusted and confident.

Btw, one of the reasons I am against organized religion is because it doesn't allow for conversations like this. You're straight, they're gay, and the twain shall never meet.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Graynadian. This type of open and honest discussion has been missing from the Sex Forum for a long time and I'm sure your experiences will be useful advice for Patrick.

Slightly related: my girlfriend is bisexual, and it is possible to be more attracted to one of the sexes when you're bi, so maybe my theory doesn't work so well.

I don't know about that. There are plenty of girls who are hetero who don't like to give blowjobs. That's like saying "you're only straight if performing cunnilingus turns you on." Lets face it, there are plenty of straight guys who might do it but not get actually really aroused by it. Again, I think that fantasizing about a sex act, and actually finding it particularly hot when you do it, are different things. I still stand with Graynadian on the "instant erection" theory. Whichever gender gets you totally and instantly turned on (erect or wet) is the one for you. If both, hey, then you've got that many more potential partners to choose from.

Also, most people are somewhat attracted to both genders. For most people, it's much greater to one than the other (like 80-99% straight, and just a little bit gay - or vice versa). For others, it's more a 50/50 thing.

Me, personally? Well, as much as I can appreciate the physical perfection that is Monica Belluci, she doesn't get me hot. Sad, really, because she's as pretty as pretty can be. I guess that means I'm about as straight as straight can be. Sadly, I've never had any lesbian fantasies or tendencies, even though the occasional person has mistaken me for one. Boring, huh? Had a few bi experiences in college (I'm 26 now). I had been curious for a couple years and figured I would give things a try. I wouldn't go out to the bar and pick up guys.
