You mean like this?
That's soooooo me.
We were so close to finishing Death Toll on Expert, those finales are fucking killer.

Want to try Blood Harvest today?
Perhaps, but I'm at work today.

I'd be up for that, so long as it's not TOO late. I need to be in bed by about 2am tonight, rather than half five.

More random thoughts on Left 4 Dead:

1.)Limited a team to 7 points on the second to last level of Blood Harvest last night. This is by far my lowest score on any level in which the survivors get automatic weapons. Finally tally: 6.5Kish points to 200ish. They had heart, I give them that.

2.)The exploits have ruined the No Mercy campaign for me. Blood Harvest is much more enjoyable. Not only are there way to many weapon/item spawning points in easily defended rooms in No Mercy, but goddamn, there are a shit-ton of closet camping spots or unassailable defensive chokeholds during crescendo events. I'm not going to list the exploits here, but I basically don't play No Mercy much anymore. And, of course, because of the exploits everyone wants to play No Mercy. Gah.

3.)Against very good teams, the survivors tend to be only vulnerable to a well-played, coordinated tank attack, or a well-placed with spawning. Otherwise, particularly in No Mercy, the infected are in trouble unless they are completely on-the-ball.

4.)Hunter slash is the most underappreciated aspect of Versus play, particularly given that you can hit more than one survivor at once.

5.)I have become addicted to going for the insta-kills with the smoker, and ignoring vast parts of the level. This is probably a mistake, as my teammates could use my help whittling down teams. But, goddamn it, it's so effing satisfying. Almost every level has an opportunity for an instant kill.

6.)Against dodgy teams I've taken to recommending our team keep a pipe bomb in reserve to blow generators/pianos/fork lifts off the paths. Nothing more satisfying than blowing a douche bags game killing exploit out of the way and continuing onwards.

Are you ever going to get bored of harping on about your 'leet skillz' on Left 4 Dead?

It's a team game, and I've seen a lot better than myself. I've enjoyed other folks's post about scores. I mean, Versus mode is about "scores."
For those of you who have seen me play. Scores are probably the thing I gave the least shit about.

Honestly, who cares.

Well, in Versus mode, you beat the other team by outscoring them. I imagine you're mostly playing campaign if you're ignoring the scoring system. Taken a stab at Expert yet? Seems grueling, particularly with friendly fire.
I have no idea what I'm doing. It's basically: Meet guys, hang around, shoot up shit, make dumb comments, repeat.
I subscribe to the EdHocken method for this game as well. I've only played half of No Mercy so far (in single player) but I really like what I've seen so far.
So, so close to finishing Blood Harvest on Expert. Both tanks dead, zombie horde thinned, APC in the backyard then I get kicked to death by a lone zombie and Nate gets Huntered about a cm away from the APC.
Shit, if it was a Hunter I wouldn't feel so bad, unfortunately it was just a regular zombie.
Damn, well I was prone on the roof so all I say was your outline turn red about an inch from the APC.

They do 20 damage in expert. That's no joke!
just picked this up on PC...you all have the X-box version huh?
The weirdest moment last night was when that JugPuncher guy came up to me when I was down, shot me once, giggled and ran off only to get his head torn off by a Tank about a minute later.
Ah Riviello. He's a wily son of a bitch
I was still 'alive' and bleeding out when he and Eric got wasted, it was kind of hilarious.
Sounds about right for Alex.

I finally broke down and bought a copy off ebay for PC but it hasn't arrived yet. I'll probably have it today or tomorrow. I know that a number of folks in the CHUD group on Steam have it as I've seen them playing it quite a bit. True, a bunch of these backwards folks are playing it on Xbox but I doubt you'll have much trouble finding a couple of PC folks playing it.
That was right after you killed me when we were both down for no reason! I figured you could fend for yourself.

Awesome games last night, though. Not sure if jumping into the hardest difficulty right away was the smartest thing for me, but I'm loving it.
I thought you took me down that time too? Anyways, we seemed to work well as a team after that point. It only took us forty minutes to get through one stage. Still can't believe how close we got to finishing the fucker.
Anyone up for another expert game today? I think Versus is a bit lackluster without eight people.
I want to get some fableage in over the next few hours, but after that I'm up for taking a shot at Blood Harvest, Dead Air or Death Toll on Expert.
I'd be up for it in a couple of hours. Blood Harvest or Death Toll sounds good. I have to wait until my brother's done with the 360.

my group of friends are picking it up since it's 25% off..so i have a good group at the ready :-)

Anyone want to play today?
I never, ever, want to see stage 3 of Blood Harvest again. I swear to Christ not only is it the hardest section of the entire game, but it’s the dullest too.
Once I get my achievement I never, ever, want to see stage 3 of Blood Harvest again.

That one is definitely a slog, no doubt about it. By the time you're finally activating the train, it feels like you've already been playing it twice as long as the two prior stages combined.
Is it even possible to beat this game on Expert? I was playing on Normal with a buddy the other night and we were just getting stomped during the No Mercy finale.
No Mercy is the easiest on Expert bar none. My buddies and I have moved onto Blood Harvest Expert.... Ugh.

For No Mercy Expert...

1) When you get to the lift sequence, bypass the lift and go to the small loading door below the building you're going to. If you have all four team members beating it down in unison you can break it down in seconds without alerting the horde.

2)When you call the elevator hide in the closet to the side. All four members can fit, and there's only one way in our out. The key is to force choke points. Should you ever hear a horde coming, you should all know where the nearest room, back of a truck, etc. is for safety.

3) The MOST important point on the No Mercy finale level that makes it a synch. All four members need to grab auto shotguns and go crouch under the stairs that lead up to the helipad. Once again, an ideal choke point, almost 20 feet of pure safety where you can unload on them. The best part is that when the tank arrives, you don't even have to leave to the stairs. As soon as he shows up to pound you into dust, four auto shotguns at close range will take him out in about 8-10 seconds. He'll be lucky to get a hit in on one of you. Rinse and repeat until the final tank is dead, and then run out and meet the chopper for the easy win.

Even better, the opposite end of the hall with the elevator there is a room where all 4 players can fit in comfortably. There is only one entrance and for some reason the majority of the horde will stay outside of the room. You can shot through the walls and kill normal zombies and the specials.
But you get absolutely hammered when the Tanks show up if you're in that room. So far I've only been able to complete Death Toll on Expert and even then I got wasted before my team were able to escape. To be honest I'm having more fun tooling through the campaigns on Easy/Normal, Expert is just too stressful.
Expert isn't too stressful. You're just a wimp. Me, on the other hand? I'm a champion of the world. I just haven't won anything yet.
No Mercy on Expert? I got it. That's right. Bow before me.
My Ebay copy finally showed up, so any PC chewers feel free to grab me off the Steam CHUD group for some games. I only played 1 campaign last night, No Mercy with a random group. It was actually a pretty good group and we were doing really well on the finale when 1 of the 4 of us accidentally fell off of the portion of the roof we'd decided to use for our standoff. That led to a comedy of errors with each of us dropping down to try to revive them during what seemed to be a lull only to have a Tank show up right next to us with all of us pretty much stuck on a ledge trying to get away from him.

It did not end well.
The more I play this game the worse I seem to get at it. First night playing I was able to get to the end of No Mercy on Expert, yesterday I failed to get past stage three of Dead Air on Expert.
I think your just getting used to everything. Knowing when and where everything happens kinda lets you rush through it all guns a blazin' just to get to the crescendo events.
I wish the demo for this was still available, as I'm afraid of buying it without first making sure it runs on my not too fast PC.
My experience with PC games is if your unsure if it will run, it probably wont.

But i dunno, i would think if you can run any newer Source games you should be ok.
Anybody willing to play with someone who just bought this five minutes ago: REALBeefSupreme
post #448 of 778
You're on Minsk. Send me a friend invite and I'll get to it either later today or tomorrow morning.
I think I'm going to be in an Expert mood later today if anyone's up for it.
I'm up for Zombie Apocalypsifying.
