I'd rather see Near Dark 2 personally, but...
I have a sinking feeling that I'll be reviewing this sometime in the near future.
I swear to God, this makes me sad. Actually sad.
I got excited for a second. Then some of the excitement kind of stayed anyway.

I think I agree w/ Brian that I would rather not have seen this movie get made at all. But the question is begged; this movie came out over 20 years ago. And it was very popular when it came out. Why make a sequel NOW?
This is a little baffling. They can;t be hoping for much name recognition, surely?

Has anyone seen From Dusk Till Dawn 3? The second one was the first film I ever remember returning to the video store without finishing it, and that was saying a helluva lot back in those days. After the Bruce Campbell/Tiffani Amber Theissan beginning that shit fell apart, and I was always afraid to check out the third.

It's better than the second one as far as I'm concerned, although I do enjoy Texas Blood Money to a certain degree. Neither is on par at all with the first one, but then I really wouldn't expect a DTV sequel to be anyway. From Dusk 'Till Dawn III: The Hangman's Daughter is a solid film for the first two thirds. Once they reach the retro version of the bar though, it falls apart. It ends up loosing the fun spaghetti western vibe in the last third and turns into a really bad and amateurish vampire movie. It's almost like the last act was directed by a different and far less talented director. The cast (Michael Parks, Temuera Morrison, Marco Leonardi) does hold it together very well, although I could have done without the small roles given to Rebbecca Gayheart and Orlando Jones. That said, if they HAVE to do a DTV Lost Boys sequel, then they could certainly do a lot worse than P.J. Pesce as the director.

My problem with the sequel to The Lost Boys and the proposed one to The Goonies isn't that they are happening, it is what they are doing with them. In both cases, the original cast and filmmakers are quite interested in returning to the material. Joel Schumacher and producer Richard Donner have talked about the prospect of a Lost Boys sequel for years, but the studio never really seemed interested. Both Corey Feldman and Corey Haim have been very intersted in reprising their roles for a sequel as well. So now, when someone interested in funding one comes to power, what do they do? They pretty much give those guys the finger and greenlight a throwaway (and likely bad) DTV sequel.

Same goes for The Goonies, which might be getting the DTV sequel treatment in the near future as well according to insider reports. Richard Donner and producer Steven Spielberg, as well as pretty much the entire original cast(!), have been wanting to get a sequel off the ground for years................once again with the studio not being interested. And now it seems they are set to flip them all off as well. It's gotta suck to be Richard Donner right now.

Under Siege III and Beetlejuice II are on the way as well. As far as Under Siege goes, there's no reason not to bring back Seagal as he is a strictly DTV actor these days anyway, so they'd better get him back. Besides, he's been trying to get them to do a third one for years.

Beetlejuice II, however, is a mistake, even though they should be able to get Keaton to do it if they try hard enough. I just don't have enough faith in them to craft a wacky and creative DTV sequel to Burton's masterpiece that is any good. I suspect Keaton will stay away.........if they even bother to ask him back.

They probably are, but the people who are old enough to recognize the name because they saw & loved the original, are a little too old a target audience for a teen surfer cast, no? This would have made so much more sense if they'd done it 15-17 yrs ago. Then they could have tapped into a younger audience (that is to say, the us of 20 yrs ago) that would have eaten this right up. They could've made a theatrical release, regardless of its budget or quality, and it probably would have at least broke even, then. Given the fact that moviemakers, particularly horror filmmakers, make films hoping to get the teen date movie dollar, such an old, only once visited "franchise" doesn't seem like the way to go to get that teen cash.

This doesn't make me even remotely happy or excited. The first film was perfect. Why fuck with that, and why do it 20 years later?

I thought it was totally gonna be a goof, then it got real serious.

Good thing that reality show is just a cover; they're dedicated to a higher purpose. The 2 Corey's are fighters for truth, justice, and the American way.
That wasn't a goof?
has anybody seen that corey and corey reality show on A&E? I heard it sucked balls. Feldman is a pretty pathetic dude. I watched a episode of that sureal show and he was going on and on...I wasn't aware that he still lived in the past and was that bitter. but anyways, I guess in the first episode of the corey and corey thing feldman turned down a role in lost boys 2 because they didn't offer a role to haim and c haim was all pissed and crying.

Oh dear god. I can't believe this is for real .

I seriously thought it was a joke. I mean Lost Boys is one thing , since I saw that they made a Sandlot sequel like ten years later. But BeetleJuice ?

I think I'm just going to pretend that I never read this and move on .

That's a major development change. Well, I'll keep my maggots crossed.
Are they returning in cameo form or are they the stars is what I need to know?
Holy shit. The other Frog brother is coming back too. Did they rewrite the script or did they just jam them into one scene? I gots to know.
yeah I don't like the idea that after the film is already shooting all these people are being included. if they're rewriting the film to make it more of a true sequel, it will suck. if they are just putting them in as cameos, it will suck. now they're going to put it in theaters? how can this be good? they should have let the original people like shumacher take a shot at it instead of pumping out a dtv sequel and then realizing half way through...oh people really wanted to see this? maybe we should have made it good...well too late now but lets get corey haim and let him work his magic.
what a waste.
and where the fuck is jason patric? lets get the guy from the dodge ram comercials and keifer sutherland too. oh and The Tribe is a lame title.

I still remember seeing the Lost Boys for the first time at summer camp, and being freaked the hell out by it. I retain enough fond memories of it to own it, though I haven't seen it in forever.

Vampire surfers sounds hilarious to me. Then again, vampire bikers would probably be hilarious too, if I hadn't seen the original at an impressionable age.
yeah i saw the lost boys at a pretty young age and i had the soundtrack on cassette. im down with that lost in the shadows song where they're all riding their motorcycles and its all foggy. that's my fuckin jam!
