Wait, I finished the Legendary campaign and got the inviso-text ending but someone said there's more besides that?

What else, I don't remember anything besides what was written down.

More inviso-text please?
So YOU'RE McLovin. We were wondering...
So last night in a few games we had an open talk ability, whatever you said it went to the teammates. Later-on however, there was an extra icon and we had to push the d-pad to "team talk". Is there anyway to set it to open talk?

When your team is all friends, much more fun to keep an open line.
4 or less people you've got open chat. More than 4 and you have to click the d-pad. A way of keeping it less cluttered, I suppose. A lot easier without fumbling for the d-pad every time you want to shout "FUCK!", though.
yeah, that team talk stuff sucked.
I tend to babble too myself, so having the team talk button probably stops me from driving my allies nuts
post #707 of 1264
I don't have a 360, but I'm very interested in what information the Jjaro terminals have.

...which happens a lot when playing against Alex because he's a fucking master assassin.

Killings tonight, gentlemen!
And that's typically what I say more than anything when I'm playing anything on Live.

Here you go:

After Chief puts himself into the cryostasis chamber and says "wake me when you need me", the screen goes black. After a moment, there is another very short scene which wasn't described above.

It shows the exterior of the Ark's remnant drifting through space an unspecified amount of time later. It drifts towards an unidentified planet that is shrouded in darkness. As the Ark drifts closer, the horizon of the planet lights up. Its tough to tell if the light is just backlight as the camera pans, or if its in response to the Ark's approach, but I believe its the latter.

The light gets brighter and brighter, as horror-music strings lay down the soundtrack, and everything flares out in white light. The end.

If the $174 million cash-cow that is Master Chief doesn't lead people to believe we'll be seeing more FPS games with the big green guy down the road, this sure does the trick.
What's the purpose of the silver skulls? Unlike the gold skulls, you don't get an achievement when you find one, and they don't seem to unlock anything in campaign scoring mode either. Anyone know?

You have to activate them prior to starting the stage in order for their effects to be utilized. Its not automatic.

Oh yeah. How the fuck did I forget that.

And anyone else who has finished the fight: How many armor variants were unlocked after? I got about 5 out of 10 now so I have no idea how the rest are unlocked.
I still haven't played beyond the little bit of time I had on tuesday, which I described in an earlier post, but I'm really looking forward to playing with you guys eventually, and hopefully you'll like me enough to welcome me back.

Anyway, I got to play 2 rounds of Slayer with 4 people in the match (all strangers). The first round I was essentially a crash test dummy with no kills, but the second round I manged to rack up 7 or 8 kills, and one of them was actually kind of cool. I jumped off of a higher platform and killed the guy who had been abusing me and manged to set some explosions off that sent him rocketing straight up as I landed. If the data is still there I should go back and see if I can check it out again. I actually felt like a badass for a sec. I also personalized the look of my spartan a bit. The game is really fleshed out and well put together.

Is there a way to take snapshots and export them out somehow? I know we can all share this stuff with each other, but it might be cool for some of them to pop up in the thread from time to time too.
Somehow you're supposed to be able to attach screenshots to your profile at bungie.net. I imagine you can link to them after that.

You have to set up a profile at b.net first, of course. I did it last week and it only took a couple minutes.
I believe they appear on your Bungie.com profile.

If you have a Hotmail account that basically becomes your Bungie account too with an extra step.
I hopped onto the back of a speeding Mongoose, and managed to snipe an Enemy as said Mongoose crashed through a steel gate. This game is love, although as Owen and Slater will attest, I really am quite insanely dreadful at it.

BTW, Shooty Snipers when played with intelligent people is my favourite game mode. Nothing like two teams occupying opposite structures and playing a chess like game of dare to see who can get the best sniper position.
My friend and I were in Forge last night and it deteriorated into us throwing Wraith tanks at each other from across the map. Fun was had by all.
There's something hilarious about trying to shoot a floating TV monitor which is lobbing tanks at you.
Anyone interested in trying to get a group together around 9:30 eastern?
You know, it's a thread like this that makes me regret two things: 1) that I don't have my own XBL account, and have to mooch off my room-mate and 2) that I won't be able to play any Halo 3 until like...Monday. Stupid parents. Stupid girlfriend...(I kid, I kid, but seriously...)

I might be home from work by that time.....Depends on if I make any stops on the way.
I oughtta be off by then, so I'll try to take part.
Okay, never mind, it looks like all you have to do is pick up the silver skull and it will be added to your skull list.

The Grunt Birthday Party skull (from level two) is awesome. Each headshot makes confetti explode from the Grunt's skull, and you can hear little kids yelling "Yaaaaaaaaay!" in the background.

Well, I'll be on from then until midnight, so we'll just see who shows up, I guess.
Last night a few guys from work and I were playing some custom games. This particular game was very close, I finished with 25 kills and the second place guy had 24, with the final kill being a sticky grenade to his helmet. So I made this and put it up in the office at work. I went for as cheesy as possible, borrowing some inner monologuing from Wolverine, and for some reason this guy is always eating Taco Bell and enjoys talking about it during games.

I work at a comic book store, so this makes more sense than it would at your average office I suppose.

Uh...the office is on at 9. I'm the world's worst scheduler. 10 pm for me.

Matches McLovin is going down at some point for he killed me way too much tonight. Finally played online for the first time in over 3 years with a Halo game. Hope I didn't embarass my team too much. Great fun to be had though. Halo 2 and the cheaters and smacktalkers ruined the game for me, hence why I haven't played online for like 3 years. But after a quick 40 minute match tonight with fellow chewers, I'm gonna be practicing. So Matches....sleep with one eye open...
Skull hunting (not fucking) is fun. Got 5 tonight (yes, using cheetz/faqs) but its still fun to find this out.

The mysterious 13'th skull (I Could Have Been Your Daddy) is still completely lost on all known players, but for Bungie employees. Right now there is a 45 page thread on B.net of people trying to find it. Bungie people must just be dying of laughter.
Yeah that match we had on (too new to know names) that snowy map was a blast.. I love going kamakazi with energy swords ^_^

So this is what playing online with intelligent people feels like.. interesting.
god damn. chapter 8 is the worst fucking level I've trudged through in a long time. was there some kid with cancer that won some contest to design that piece of turd? had to stop playing - just too awful to bother with right now.

Explain why that level is bad. Haven't gotten there yet.
Cool!!!! It was a bit late for me, but I hopped on for a bit anyway and managed to get into a game with a bunch of you guys. I was on the Blue team and it was a blast! I think I even got to kill Nick once... YEAH!!!

Hopefully I'll see you all again soon! Thanks!!!

Picture (highlight to read)the Library, except set inside a giant distended colon.

That said, I didn't mind it as much as others did. It was far more interesting than it's ancestor, and featured fewer "Oh great, MORE of them" moments.

Anyone else play 4-player co-op? This game shines with 4 people going through the level like Space Rainbow Six.
Beat it on Heroic tonight. Going to go through it now on Legendary solo.

My favorite of the Halo series. The combat was excellent, the gameplay was tremendous and the story was good. Haven't decided if it's Game of the Year yet, but it is one of the best I've ever played. Very satisfied with the campaign mode.

If you have an Xbox 360, you have to have this game.
You guys seen Superbad?

Zing.
It's not Game of the Year.

Not on Campaign at least.

It's gonna be the "It" multiplayer title for God knows how long though.

Personally, Bioshock lived up more to the hype than Halo 3 but we still have CoD 4 waiting in the shadows. And Mario Galaxy.
Great time gaming with you guys tonight. Sorry for anyone I chased around, trying to crush with the tank.
Yeah, that was fucking great, though I got some lag during a few rounds. But I feel like I had a respectful showing overall.

Which reminds me that I need to look through the replays for that time I killed Cassidy while we were both flying threw the air on The Narrows. That was beautiful.
Beat co-op on heroic tonight.
Good solid well-polished game, just like the other two. It could also use less Flood, just like the other two. I enjoyed it a lot more as I got further into it. I didn't mind the next-to-last stage nearly as much as you guys, but it's certainly not good.
The end of the last stage is a nice callback to Halo 1.

Someone mentioned earlier that they unlocked 5 sets of armor by playing through on heroic. I only unlocked 3, is that due to the fact I was playing on co-op?
Well, total. Including the ones that were already unlocked.

I'll double check to make sure.
I guess I'm just curious how they're unlocked, is all. When I first booted up the game there was only one set of anything.

I'll check out GameFAQs.
I admit I'm completely unfamiliar with Halo matchmaking (I only played the first one over a LAN, didn't play much halo 2). I typically log on, see a bunch of folks, but have no idea how to join a game, how to send an invite, etc. Basically, if there isn't a "join game" option in my inbox, don't know what to do.

Should I wade through the manual?
Is it just me or did the 'Believe' diorama commercial by itself seem more epic than the actual campaign in Halo 3?
Yes, it did.

I wish there would've been at least a damn cut scene that epic.

Yeah it was really fun playing with you guys.

I have no idea how the Forge thing works. I never had enough money to create a tank so I can hit people with it. The heaviest thing I could create was a forklift.

I don't think I've laughed quite as much during a match as I did during that Snowbound forge match, and I share your desire to destroy McLovin. The guy's a freakin' machine.

Still when we were doubleteaming people with the Wraith we did fairly well

I'm not sleeping tonight so hopefully I should be able to play a lot longer, maybe we could all get together as a team and try and win some Team Slayer against other teams. I'm itching to improve my rank.

EDIT: Oh and Slater, I promise to stop sending you game invites

My personal highlight of the session we had last night was taking out a warthog and its two passengers with one of those Spartan Cannons. That was very cool. Can't remember who I killed off the top of my head, but they were on the orange team.

I think I handled myself reasonably well after my pathetic first round last night, esepcially considering I was still somewhat clueless about some of the new weapons (like that cannon mentioned above).
