Even Cartoons Steal Jokes...

I've seen alot of passionate conversations on the MBs berating comedians for joke-stealing. To keep the spirit alive, I just ran across this vid today:

Some of the bits look like blatant rip-offs, others just similar.

And just because, here's some crossover bits:

Months ago, Tina Fey on Weekend Update: "ABC has announced that Lost has been renewed...In a statement, the shows writers were quoted as saying, "Oh, crap."

David Spade did it WORD FOR FUCKING WORD (well, he said "shit" instead of "crap") on his Comedy Central show this week. Punk.

Funniest part of the second clip is that the Simpsons parody of South Park is nothing like South Park.

Man, I totally forgot about that Simpsons episode with the puppies. I was glad to find "See my Vest" on youtube.

You want to see blatant rip-offs in animation? Go back to the 50s and 60s and compare some of the MGM cartoons to the ones that Warner Bros. made. They literally use the exactly the same jokes and sometimes even the voices are the same, but they're different cartoon characters. My son was watching the "MGM" show on Boomerang last night, and there was an episode with Screwy Squirrel where he gets bought from a pet store to be a "companion" to this big dumb dog. When the dog opens the box and takes out the squirrel, he grabs him and does the whole "O goody! A new friend! I will name him George and hug him and pet him and squeeze him," etc.--with the same voice as the Abominable Snowman from the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoon.

There's an episode of "The Ant and the Aardvark" that is identical to an cartoon of "Sylvester and Tweety" where they all get run over and end up in the hospital, where they all still keep going after one another. And the jokes and sight gags are EXACTLY the same.

Which just perfectly illustrates how arrogant, out of touch, and humourless the Simpsons has become.
