Seriously, I remember when I was younger and this station would actually live by the title American Movie Classics. What is it now, All Mundane Crap?

There's always Turner Classic Movies.

It's a shitty channel. But gotta give them points for running COMMANDO and RED DAWN back-to-back the other night. Of course those points are taken away because they're edited the fuck up. Complete butcher job when Matrix hides out in the shed.

My cable company nuked Turner Classic Movies. I'm still upset about this.

I'm pretty sure they are going by American Movie Channel now instead of classics. So, I guess Catwoman applies.

I've seen three seperate ocassions where they did "Hard To Kill" following "Commando".

Also, this thread happened a week ago, right?

Yeah it did. Ha.

edit: Though that thread seems to have disappeared.

Was the name "Irony Channel" already taken?

American Movie Classics always paled in comparison to the utter superiority of TCM. AMC never had much of a catalogue...the only thing they could really boast was the early Universal stuff. TCM owns all of MGM, all of Warner Brothers through mid-century, and all of RKO. Plus TCM has consistently demonstrated a much greater respect for and understanding of classic movies.

So yeah. AMC, now American Movie Channel, blows.

...all this is ironic since last week I actually made a note to myself to watch Ewan McGregor's old Nightwatch on AMC. Dammit he was so precious I could sop him up with a biscuit.

You should see the original Nightwatch (Nattevagten) with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. (if you haven't already)

American Movie Classics, back when they didn't mostly suck balls, was solid. Lots of Paramount stuff, and pre-DVD it was a treat to get to see widescreen prints of things like ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST. Silents got represented nicely as well, I have a tape of one of their Buster Keaton marathons that I'll still throw in a couple of times a year. They fell off, but when they were good, they were actually good.

Maybe they're gonna advertise is as a comedy, like when TBS airs commercial for Exit Wounds that say "Steven Seagal is funnier by accident than most comedies are on purpose" and then it says "TBS, now that's comedy" or whatever the fuck they're lil slogan is now that they use for Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond commercials.

MonsterFest on AMC used to be a wonderful thing, until it turned into a chance to show nothing but Halloween and Freddy sequels for 24 hours.

And their DVD on TV thing is a joke -- you finally show the film letterboxed and turn it into Pop-Up Video. Thanks.

What does the programming on a movie channel have to do with the personal lives (et. al) of the people who inhabit this board?

Wrong forum, chief!

Also, AMC hasn't been in it's original form since 2003, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

I didn't do a search because I didn't think this would have been brought up before. If I see BLOODRAYNE on AMC one evening, I will make sure to run a search before starting another thread.

Not being a smartass, just being honest.
