This is actually two shots, spliced together. I don't know if that falls under the category as some of the others, but it was worth noting.

not a bad list at all. i know its recent, but Death Proof has a sweet one take around the diner table, when the girls are talking and stuntman mike is in the background eating at the counter.

man, good thing i didnt write this list. those shot summaries are way more succinct than mine.

Incomplete without "Non Nobis" from Brannagh's Henry V.

So is the shot from Hard Boiled too, right? There's a splice when he's in the elevator.

The Star Destroyer going across the opening scene in A New Hope. While not quite the same as the list above is at least a close Cousin. Happy Birthday Diva.

Johnnie To's BREAKING NEWS opening is brilliant, and the rest of the film's not bad either. The end sequence is also an impressive long take, but that minutes-long opening shot is a jaw-dropper.

I really like when Johnny Utah enters the FBI bureau for his first day in Point Break.

I also really like when GTO and The Girl are sitting in the diner and The Driver and The Mechanic catch up to them near the end of Two-Lane Blacktop. They're having a conversation at a table and you see the car arriving in the background, they get out and we follow their entrance in the diner.

Bonfire of the Vanities? Raising Cain? Absolute Beginners?

Hard Boiled.

No Citizen Kane? There are at least two amazing long ones-- everybody remembers the camera flying up and over Susan's nightclub and entering through the skylight, but Thatcher's flashback to young Kane in the snow through the window is pretty spiffy too.

Nice to see Nostalghia on there though. What an extraordinary scene.

Once Upon a Time in the West. The long shot where Frank discovers the aftermath of a bloody shootout between Cheyenne's men and Morton's. In one long, wordless shot, we discover with him as he pours through the train, looking for any survivors, as the camera trucks right, past bodies, horses, giving the audience all the information they need as to how things went down. Again, no words, no music, just one long shot. Beautiful.

I know BOOGIE NIGHTS has one on there but I've always loved the shot of William H. Macy's last few minutes in the film.

I'm glad the staircase sequence from THE PROTECTOR is on there. That one really stands out among recent movies.

I saw most of that movie from the middle to the end last night for the first time. Blake is great. I'm convinced I need to buy it. And the last shot is amazing.
