Besides the usual yell of FAKE/STAGED!; yeah, she's pretty cute, but she looks like trouble down the line.
Also, she sucks at payback; she should had used the beta key herself or something., instead of just shredding; all he needs to do is ask Blizzard for it again.

He could also inform the FBI. She broke federal law by using his password.

I know! Fuck up my car, just leave my SC beta code alone! Some things are sacred.

I remember the story of a chewer whose GF was stealing his dvd's and selling them behind his back; that story taught me s great lesson:
"She took "Big trouble in Little China"? Hell No, smack that Ho"
If they end up making up and back together, you bet the Diablo 3 beta code is going into a security box.

There is only one rational answer to this:

"Thanks for proving to everyone that dumping your ass was a great idea, you fucking psycho."

Figured I'd bump this thread seeing as anyone pre-ordering the game is getting into the Beta now.

I'm having a blast so far - I got placed in Copper league, but that's OK. The hugely improved Battle.net matchmaking system places me with people around my skill level so that I'm winning about 60% of the time (at this rate I'm hoping to get into Bronze league within another week or two).

The game runs pretty well on my 4-year old computer, and like a dream on my new laptop.

The gameplay itself is so similar to SC1 that the game at times seems more like an HD remake than an actual sequel, but I think there's enough new stuff to satisfy older Starcraft fans.

I'm curious how new players will take to this game - the learning curve is pretty steep, and even in copper league you'll get pummeled into the ground if you don't know what you're doing. Blizzard even admitted that the bottom 3% of players on Battle.net aren't being properly served by their matchmaking; maybe that will change when the game finally hits retail this July 27th, then the real fresh blood will start coming in
post #60 of 189
Well better late than never. Just got my SC2 beta invite today. With only a week and change until release I had figured they already sent them all out. If you signed up maybe you should make a check of your junk email folder.

Anyone looking for some totally not serious matches let me know.

Oh yeah, this game will be incredible, wont it?
Yes, it will. Pre-ordered, installed and ready for tomorrow.

Activating your Battle.net Account is like waiting at the DMV.

Position: 3175
Estimated Time: 24855 days 3 hours 14 minutes

Have fun guys!
I can't believe what happened to me. I had it pre-downloaded and I fucking fell asleep waiting for it to unlock, like a fucking old man. I still haven't played it.

I suck.

Aw man... I can't wait 68 years to play this game!
I'm doing this tonight.
The game really screwed up a buddies Alienware... Hahaha serves him right to spend $1,500 on a PC when he has no idea how to even update his drivers... So once I'm out of class I'm off to his place to fix the problem as my copy of the game goes unintalled.
I was going to buy a copy of this today but I'm closing on my house this week and I'm shit-terrified of spending any money on things that I don't need to live.

In other words I hope I trip into a magical Gamestop where everything is free, or find 60 bucks lying around. In the meantime I can't wait to read your reactions to this.
The giant-ass electronics store near my office (J&R, NYC-people) had zero copies of Starcraft 2 out and hundreds of copies--not exaggerating--of the Starcraft Battle Chest on display. It's possible they sold out of SC2 already. It's also possible they loaded up on some Battle Chest copies to piggyback on the hype. But I can't help wondering if someone really fucked up an inventory order.
I am more interested in how the single player part of Starcraft 2 turns out than anything. There is no way I could compete in online games if I could never compete with my buddies over a LAN in the original Starcraft.
I fucking love Blizzard games. So much detail and polish, even for the smallest things. I'm only two missions in and still they've somehow managed to cram more incidental detail and character in this than whole other strategy games can. I'm also digging the Wing Commander vibe in between missions a lot.
If anyone picks up the collectors edition and has no need for the included WoW pet....can I have it? Ill be your best friend forever.
Very early in, but it's really sad how much I was digging on the juke box in the bar. Freebird AND Sweet Home Alabama 500 years in the future? Hell yes. I totally dig the "truckers in space" vibe the marines carry. The whole cowboy truck driver thing makes a lot of sense for the edges of civilized space.
I don't have the game, as of yet anyway, because an online store screwed up their distributor's allotment order. Their excuse is basically the distributor promised more than they could provide and the store took them at their word.
As a result they had to cancel my order, just yesterday, and gave me a $5 coupon for their store. Which won't even cover the delivery cost for whatever I'll end up buying, so screw that and them for that joke of an "apology".

Why they can't tell me this at any time before yesterday? Cynically probably to keep my patronage of their store. The only reason I used them was so that I don't have to travel out of my way to a store and pick it up but if they'd told be about the problem I could have made the effort to do just that.

Anyway rant over, will go pick a copy of it up later today, if there are still copies of it around....
I'm enjoying the visual upgrades, and I like the presentation a lot, especially the new mission brief playrooms.

I'm surprised at how little they've changed the formula. It feels exactly like Starcraft, which I'm not sure is a great thing, but I've yet to open up the new stuff. So far, so similar - but not bad.
Anyone want a guest pass to play this for 10 days or 7 hours...drop me a PM

PASSES ARE GONE..
I have two passes as well...

I'm enjoying it, but man. In ten years they didn't change the gameplay much. I played a hold off the zerg for 20 minutes mission that included one new element, the side objective to rescue other soldiers.

There's some upgrade elements being introduced, but I'm already let down that they didn't learn from the World at Wars, the Company of Heroes and the Dawn Of Wars. There has been TONS of innovation recently, why not intergrate it?

Blame Korea.

Yep, I have two guest passes as well. PM me if you would like one.
The new additions are pretty neat. The mercenaries, the Lab, the armory. I kinda love the new sections of the ship you can get into.

And the Deadwood music.

I'm 6 missions in, and i'm in love already.
There's some really well thought-out missions. I really like the one riffing on survivalist films where you go out hunting during the day and defend like crazy at night. I'm at the train robbery mission this evening. Yeehaw!

Only fault so far is I'm finding it a bit too easy on Normal mode, a couple of manned bunkers at a choke point and it's pretty much game over every time. I toyed with the idea of putting it up to Hard mode but was worried this might affect my starting ranking on the multiplayer and I don't want to get destroyed.

Lots of fun though and I really like the whole redneck vibe - sort of Firefly meets Warhammer 40k (Raynor's Raiders wouldn't last three seconds against a Blood Marine chapter)

I also love how the Hellions scream "FIRE! FIRE!" like Beavis!
Welp, as I had expected all stores have sold out of all their copies. Demand for them is so high that some stores were taking orders "...just so that you won't miss out again.." You know that usual tosh...

I think we can expect this to be the most successful launch of a PC game yet when they do the numbers later this week.

Looks like I'm just going to have to wait till they restock, maybe in a week's time or so. Maybe...
Why not just download it? That's what I did and you don't have to worry about a store's stock..

I love the firebats in this game and how they're bigger than the normal Marines. I agree it's a bit too much like the first one but I know why they did it but on the plus side it's fun and I like the achievement aspect, gives me more things to work for in a mission. One big thing I wish they did was formations, I'm tired of when a group stops, the medic is at the front and facing where the enemy comes from, get behind that flesh wall bastard! I like the upgrade feature also and at least in the beginning (about 5 missions in) you have to really pick and choose what you think you'll need the most and go with that.
so how do I get some of you guys on my buddy list? you know...cause I just love getting my ass kicked in mulitplayer.

Stupid question, but is it any cheaper? Because if so yeah why not.
It's the same price.
That would be ideal, even if I wanted a hard copy I would already have the game already and playing and just pick it up at a later date, maybe even cheaper.

Unfortunately my reason is that I have limited bandwidth( slower than most) and unreliable connection. I get amazed if I ever play a game online for 2 hours without it dropping out of connection.

So I have to wait.
So what's everyone's impressions? I'm really digging the game. It's very robust and the "storyline" isn't annoying either. It's a leap forward for RTS, in my opinion.
Hope you don't mean in terms of gameplay. The have been games since that's done more creative things with the genre. Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, etc.
It's not a leap forward, but I really like the level-up gameplay on the ship. The RTS itself might be the same old Starcraft everybody knows, but the stuff on the ship - along with the arcade, jukebox, and everything else - is making me want to come back.

The missions are pretty clever, too, although I was THIS close to telling The Devil's Playground to go fuck itself on Hard.
I'm kinda loving the missions. The lava, The day and night, really fun.

I hope there's a lot of more variety in store.
I take it Devils's Playground is the infamous
outrun the tidal lava flow
mission?
Yeah, that's the one.

The missions are varied, and definitely make up for the lack of nuance in the actual battles. It feels just as fun to play as the original did in '98... which is a miracle, because StarCraft hasn't aged all that well.

Tychus almost makes me forget he's a space marine caricature. Yes, the story is dumb, but Tychus worth listening to if only for the voice acting.

I think that's what I'm reacting to. Yeah, the RTS gameplay is the same, but I like the fact that Blizzard added new elements to keep it sort of fresh. I like that a lot.
Love the new level select interface. Been enjoying a seven hour pass, probably going to end up buying the game eventually.
Had a chance to mess around with this. Pretty fantastical to see in motion, but goddamn, does it ever play like Super Starcraft II Turbo. I cannot fathom spending $190+ for the complete saga of what is essentially the same game as Starcraft 1 with bigger production values. Here's to hoping for a combo-pack dropping sooner rather than later.
Typical Blizzard these days -- not gonna reinvent the wheel, but everything is polished and addictive and just plain fun. I'm only about 7-8 missions in but I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
Watched a friend play it and looks like a real blast. I'll probably pick it up on payday.
The biggest problem with waiting for the whole set is that just the second installment won't expected to be out till 2012. At least that's what Blizzard says, and you know how Blizz is with dates.

I managed to track a copy down and after my pc and battle net messing with my head I got it installed and played a couple of missions. Great presentation and storytelling, but other than that, it's Starcraft 1.5 with an update.

Still good fun though.
There are wild swings in difficulty, at least on Hard. The day and night raiding mission, which might be my favorite StarCraft thing EVER, felt just tough enough, but the Protoss gas-gathering mission was an ordeal. They really make you earn those research points.

Was it sweet nostalgia that made Blizzard keep the godawful pathfinding? Is it possible that it's even worse in this game than in the original? Also, my fucking SCVs keep getting locked between sprites because they don't know where to finish their build animations. They could have given the units a kill command, at least.
