There's a movie like this. It's called "Fast Food Nation".

(Sigh) Keep the Goddam politics out of my horror, please? Particularly the nutty vegetarian stuff? It's lunchtime; think I'll go get me a roast beef sammich. Just 'cuz I can.

So I guess Dushku's like this guy's De Niro?

I'm always confused by people who are more offended by animal violence than human violence. There's something inherently wrong about that point of view.

Reminds me of a scenario when I tell anyone about the band Snot, which I'm sure not too many people know. The singer died in a car accident. When you tell people that, they're like "Aw, really?" Then when you tell them that the dog on the cover of their cd died in the accident too they actually get upset. "The dog?!? No!", genuine shock and dismay finally in their voices.

But.... a person died too! What's more important here?

I've seen pictures and videos of how animals are treated, and while yes, some of the conditions they are put in are fucked up... it's all food in the end.

it's so funny when stuff like this is done, cause it's not going to do anything. it may "shock" audiences, but certainly wont stop many (especially myself) from eating meat

peta's been doing this shit for year, and it sure shows how effective those loonies have been

I wonder if he's seen the SciFi original, "Larva".

I've noticed that as well. I think it's about pets being relatively innocent. In addition, most people who have pets have suffered from their eventual deaths and this plinks their sensitive nerve on that issue.

To be fair, I've never had a cat or a dog so I've never had that connection that people do (there's only so close you can get to a hamster), but I'm pretty sure I still would find it weird for someone to put an animal above a person.

Since animals are seen as innocent and weaker than us (sometimes), I guess that's why people are prone to feel bad when they are killed. But I wouldn't say people are commonly sadder about animal death over human death. That's a fantasy. Maybe in movies. Dances with Wolves, for example. But Costner made that shit hurt.

I actually think this movie sounds interesting. The guy's not going to change the minds of people that act like they are being attacked when their meat-eating ways are challenged (see above). But it might prove thought-provoking to some random moviegoers.

More than likely, though, it'll be a horror movie that sucks.

I think I agree w/ Kev's reasoning as to why animal death sometimes disturbs more than human death. For some reason, watching tons of people get killed in "Faces of Death" didn't bother me nearly as much as watching the bunnies get their ears chopped off in the slaughterhouse, or the Vietnamese family carve up the puppy. I don't value animals over people, but their on screen deaths sometimes just hit me harder in a visceral sense, for some reason. Maybe that makes me a morally bankrupt weirdo. I don't know.
