July 24th Is Gonna Fuck My Wallet

Thread Starter
On the heels of Matt's thread, I shudder to think what this particular Tuesday is going to do to my bank account:

ZODIAC
THE HOST
HOT FUZZ
THE MONSTER SQUAD
PERFUME
THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY
HARD-BOILED (2-disc set from Weinsteins)
THE RAINMAKER (Special Edition re-up; great movie)

Wow. Fuck my consumerist mindset, but must have, must have, must have.

That day is going to hurt indeed. I'll buy Zodiac, Hot Fuzz and Hard Boiled and rent The Host and The Wind That Shakes The Barley.

I'll wait for a special edition of Zodiac, but I'll pick up Hot Fuzz and Monster Squad.

The obsession with wallet sex has to stop.
Yeah, that day's fucked for me too.
Hard -Boiled, Hot Fuzz and Monster Squad are mine. The rest can go fuck.

I think its more like your wallet must impregnate the store with money to bring these wonderful bundles of joy home with you.

Of all the shitty times to be unemployed! God dammit.

Hot Fuzz and Hard Boiled are about it. Now all I need is for some nice company to rerelease The Killer
post #11 of 21
If you are a monster movie fan, you need The HOST in your collection.

If you are like me though, you bought the region 3 version in February.

Will there be a June 5th and June 12 IGTFMW? Between 6/5's The Fall Guy Season 1, C.H.I.P.S Season 1, Highlander Search for Vengeance by the director of both Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust and Ninja Scroll and 6/12's Ghost Rider and Hellboy Blood and Iron, there is a lot of classic entertainment to buy.

Don't know what you're going on about with those titles, but next week is The Sergio Leone Collection (Fistfull of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Fistfull of Dynamite), Seinfeld S8, Coming to America, Trading Places, and Mission Impossible S2. If anything is going to "fuck my wallet" on 6/5 its those.

I thought Monster Squad was already out on DVD. Is this a special addition?

Anyone who was a monster-movie-loving kid in the 80s can officially start salivating: Lionsgate has announced the DVD release of The Monster Squad on 24 July. This 2-DVD special edition features a new anamorphic widescreen transfer, both 5.1 and 2.0 Dolby Digital mixes, as well as a commentary with director Fred Dekker and actors Andre Gower, Ryan Lambert and Ashley Bank, a handful of deleted scenes, a ton of featurettes and some original trailers and TV spots. SRP is $19.95.

Mike Shayne PI, Do you mean no one likes Lee Major's classic series The Fall Guy, or C.H.I.P.S the family friendly cop series with the most collateral damage in the 70's? No one wants to see an ultraviolent Highlander anime film?

The Fall Guy and C.H.I.P.S are on DVD for the first time, while Sergio Leone's trilogy with Clint Eastwood has already been released a few times. While I like Seinfeld, it is on every day at least on 2 channels. Hey buy all your favorites, I just felt these particular series were left out of the discussion.

The difference being is that it's Duck You Sucker's first trip to DVD in Region 1, man.

Still, the CHIPS set rocks for what it is. I haven't seen The Fall Guy season 1 set yet.

Well I do not have a multi reigon dvd player, so I did not realize either series were already available. However, in England they already have The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman.

Season two of "Mission: Impossible" is next tuesday, I think.

Nope. This week. On its way to me right now, unless the box self-destructs on the way here. Next week has Deadwood S3, The Hustler, and The Verdict. Oh, and the movie where Nic Cage's head gets set on fire.

You should hold of on Zodiac for now - this version will have no extras (not to mention it has an ass-cover of head-shots, perfect for the rental shelves).

Everyone knows Fincher has piles of extras waiting in the wings, as he thoroughly documents his work, and the Uber-edition of Zodiac will come in due time (just like Panic Room did).
