A note to those neg-repping me and leaving comments

I can't see the identity of commenters/reppers, so don't be afraid!
How do you disable that?
Why would anyone neg rep you? You're precious.

I don't know why I can't see anyone's identity. I just can't. I don't really care, but since almost no one has enough power to actually change my rep, when people just leave grey boxes with no comment I always wonder what they're trying to tell me.
Has something to do with being an Admin. I can't see the names behind my hate or love comments either. There's got to be a switch that can be flipped. Anyway, I think yt left me a + one the other week - so that made me happy.
Grey boxes might be positive rep. I know that all I can give are those things, whether I make it positive or negative.
Grey boxes are for those who don't have three green positive rep boxes. So grey boxes=no points.
Repping Devin or Slater is a little like pissing in the Pacific Ocean: sure, it may feel good at the time, but it's insignificant.
So theoretically, I could neg rep you and tell you to go fuck your mother and sign someone else's name in the comment box and you would be none the wiser.

Theoretically.

EDIT - already covered above.

I used to do this before the system was set to identify you.
EDIT - fucked up.
Yeah, I neg-repped Quarant for not liking THE GODFATHER, and it turned his box red. He flailed silently in the abyss of his one red box.

A rep battle between Devin and Slater would be like a pissing contest between Ron Jeremy and John Holmes.
On the topic of repping. Anyone know how many points one needs to become worthy of the three green boxes?
200.
Anyone know how many of those blue boxes you have to get before they are worth a damn? I've gotten nothing but blue boxes on a weekly basis for months (with the occasional green box, thanks Nordling and Ripoll) and nothing happened. Devin meanwhile goes on a neg-ing spree and knocks me back a good 13-16 points. It was kind of frustrating.
I could green box you, DS. What's in it for me?
Right now all I can offer is a shiny blue box with my name attached. Name your price though and come the great gift exchange this December, I know some people who know some people and we might see it come to pass (leave your demands attached to the green box).
Damn, I should bitch more often. Thanks to all those who participated in fund raiser. The diner will stay open for another year.

EDIT: that didn't take long
why does someone with 2 boxes count for nothing? that seems kind of odd.
I wish I could turn off my ability to see identities. I always get excited to see a positive comment, until I see it was from MikeShaynePI.
It's 200 points or more to get 3 boxes.
And there should be some inversemeter, which would give you positive points if Smeagol, for example, tried to take you down by negrep.
Also: does anyone have any idea how much you have to "spread around" reputation before you can hit someone again?
I'll let you know as soon as I'm allowed to negrep The Cynic again.
that's kind of sad, my man. but fuck it. bring it on. whatever makes you feel good i guess...
Hmm. More than 10, apparently. Back to work!
Is there a way to see the past rep points/comments you gave to other people from the User CP?
Jeez, up to 16 comments and it still won't let me take another shot at The Cynic yet. This is like waiting for Christmas.
Personally, I think more established Chewers should be able to donate entire green boxes to the less fortunate.

That is, of course, only if the green box-deficient Chewer happened to be married to the more popular Chewer.

I'm just sayin'.
And the answer? 20. It takes 20 comments before you're allowed to negrep The Cynic again.

That was a bit like the owl biting into a Tootsie Pop, but well worth it.
hah! 4 boxes! Thanks, Slater. And to a lesser extent, TheCynic.
Thanks to Slater for doing the leg-work on this one!
I just gave cynic a positive rep to counter your neg hit, Slater, you neg-reppin' chugga chugga motherfucker! What's mah name?
What?!
What?!

it's probably mostly positive, anyway.
Pissed off Slater, which made him want to neg-rep you, which made him pos-rep (ugh) me, so he could spread the hate. It's the circle of life, bro.

I'd love this system if, when someone hit three boxes, all their old comments suddenly carried weight. Think of all the little rep-bombs, waiting to go off.
I need to find some dead bodies (i.e., inactive useraccounts) to plug some bullets into so that I can keep on keeping on with the reputation. Twenty posts is a long time to wait.
If you go to the Member's List and select Reputation, you can see those accounts that are close to the edge of their boxes, and sex up/smite as you see fit.
The reputation system is fine, but is it just me that feels vaguely creeped out by the thread actually talking about it? They usually degenerate into requests for rep* so they just feel weird.

*plus the occasional Slatering of silly people

Fine, fine... if this is REALLY the problem. Jesus Christ.

Should I put two spaces after periods, too? How are we on book titles? Must they be underlined?

That just earned 20 random people some positive rep. And awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay I go!
Have fun, dude!

edit -- Could I maybe pick the people so it's like my positive rep counts for something?
Jesus, Slater! Seven freakin' boxes!
reading this thread reminded me of the 'product placement' episode of 30-Rock (which hilariously coincided with the product placement obviousness of that same night's episode of the Office).

jack was explaining the whole product placement process, and said something about how each positive-mention or 'pos-men' counts as a whatever. then he busts out the huge industrial machine that they have to work into that weeks show. greatness!

I don't even know how to leave rep, but I do know I got a fancy little red box for liking a book that devin didn't like. Red is prettier than green anywho.
xoxo
