I Am Teaser Poster

Sure, a ripoff, but I like it.
It reminded me more of the posters for The Island. You know, that flaming success.

I've never quite understood the design ethic behind the whole "Background is Giant Fucking Words" thing.
Will Smith doesn't stand a chance without the silhouette of Larenz Tate backing him up.
Where's the dog? He's helpless without his DOG!

Is their plan to make people think it's a Michael Bay film?

I knew it reminded me of something else. I didn't initially scroll down in the article, so I missed the Man Apart connection, but it definitely strikes me as looking almost intentionally evocative of a poster for a Michael Bay movie, now that you bring it up.
I really like how the letters get bigger towards the end. I'm imaging mr Voice losing it in the trailer.

"The last man on EARTH! IS NOT! ALONE!"
I think the poster would benefit from the words being small. This just makes it seem like the poster is shouting at you.
It's the giant letters from the Island (kudos Matt), combined with the sunset cityscape from Transformers and Will Smith form Bad Boys, striking a pose like Bruce Willis from Armageddon.

And it's safe to say that it doesn't really give a "Will Smith versus an army of the undead" vibe.
Even goofier - when I first loaded the page, there was some ambiguous ad at the bottom of the article with a woman in a crowd striking a pose very similar to those of Smith and Diesel.
Imagine if they had Smith walking down an empty 5th Avenue or something. That would be more striking, I think.
It's the prequel to a Bay movie - BAD BOY.
And they're making people think it's the Michael Bay film no one saw.
The way the letters seem to pulsate when you scroll up and down creeps me out.
That poster gives me the same headache that I get when fucktards post in all caps on the 'board.

I'm surprised no one thought of this...

Didn't this come out before A Man Apart? Correct me if I'm wrong but it's also a hell of a lot better than anything Michael Bay has ever made. Maybe they're actually inspired by something different. Either way, not original at all.

Looks more like he managed to lose his kid from the Pursuit of Happyness poster.

His kid was devoured by letters.
I dig it. Not bad.
The Man Apart poster is dyslexic.
Whatever that poster says to me, it doesn't say I Am Legend.
I always loved this old cover art:

My current PB of the book has this illustration, which I guess has been co-opted by Land of the Dead and others since.

Polish version?

I'd rather have a poster that resembled more of a Frazetta Conan/Death Dealer painting with a desperate (and yet heroic) Neville atop a frenzy-pile of clawing vampires, fighting for his life while weilding a stop sign (shield & spear combined!) in his sinewy arms.

...And that it was Arnold instead of Fresh Prince.

* But only so I can be told by seething purist Chewers what kind of a disservice that would be to the source material.

EDIT: Well shit, kinda like the 1st cover Phil posted. But I'm insistent about the stop sign.
Nope, I prefer the isolation angle played up.

But seriously, no matter how this will turn out, Ridley Scott's aborted version is one of the best movies never made.
The DAY WATCH ad I'm getting at the bottom of that page is a bit on-the-nose, isn't it.
Man, I like Will Smith.

The isolation thing is a nice take, but it's just not pulled off especially well. Smith looks Godzilla-sized compared to the city behind him. And there should at least have been some sense of dread, but instead it looks like he's off for an afternoon stroll.

Anyway, if the movie's anywhere near as good as the unproduced script that was released a few years back, it's gonna kick major ass.
They didn't capitalize December!!!!!
They're also ripping off sure Academy Award nominee The Condemned:

But this is even more obvious:

I'm really hoping that Will can work his catch phrases into the flim - it just wouldn't be the same without: "Damn!" and "Hell Nah!"

Three words: Akiva Goldsman rewrite.
Don't forget that the A Man Apart poster was just a ripoff of the Gladiator poster:
That tagline ... THE LAST MAN ON EARTH IS NOT ALONE ... it reminds me of something myers87 might whip up. Or at least the kind of tagline he aspires to.
this is still one of my more anticipated releases of the year, but, man, between this poster and the teaser in front of O13, Warner's is doing a shit job of advertising this thing. if i didnt know better, id have no idea this is about will smith fighting legions of undead, er, "infected." the poster doesn't even have the fucking title. this isn't such a known property that you can do that, nor is it such a striking or iconic image that it'll get people talking. fuck, with that tagline, it could be "hitch 2: judgment day" for all i know.
Even though it's derivative, I still like the poster.
Even with the BIG LETTERS, I like the poster.
The tagline is very "Myers87", but that's OK.

What I don't like is Will Smith in I Am Legend.
He's raping Chuck Heston's legacy.
Or something.
