The 50 best films of 2007 (so far)

Thread Starter
The Times Online posted a list of the 50 Best Films of 2007 (up to now, anyway) right here.

Here's the list:

300
After the Wedding
Alpha Dog
Amazing Grace
Apocalypto
Arthur and the Invisibles
Babel
Becoming Jane
Black Book
Blades of Glory
Blood Diamond
Charlotte's Web
Curse of the Golden Flower
Days of Glory
Dreamgirls
Epic Movie
Factory Girl
Funny Ha Ha
Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus
Ghost Rider
Half Nelson
Hannibal Rising
Hat Trick
Meet the Robinsons
Miss Potter
Mr Bean's Holiday
Music and Lyrics
Namastey London
Norbit
Notes on a Scandal
Premonition
Reign Over Me
Reno 911
Rocky Balboa
Salaam E Ishq
Shooter
Sleeping Dogs
Smokin' Aces
Spider-Man 3
Sunshine
The Caiman
The Illusionist
The Last King of Scotland
The Lives of Others
The Number 23
The Reaping
This Is England
Unknown
Venus
Wild Hogs

Looking at it, I have to wonder if they just decided to make a list of all the movies released this year. I mean, seriously, Norbit? Ghost Rider? Wild Hogs? What the hell?

I guess this is for UK releases? There's a lot that was from 2006 on there. And there's a lot of shit on there.
The fact that neither Zodiac nor Hot Fuzz is on this list makes this thing bullshit.

Hannibal Rising. Epic Movie. The Reaping. The Number 23.

All gems.

THE CONDEMNED got robbed I tells ya!

They don't even rank by best, but by alphabet. This may as well been THE ARBITRARY LIST OF FILMS RELEASED IN 2007 list.

Fabfunk is writing for the Times now?

or Movies Social Workers Took The Retards To See After Selling Light Bulbs And Macaroni Light Switch Covers Door To Door In 2007 (So Far).
To steal Devin's joke: It more like a list of "50 Films Seen in 2007".
I will add this to my "50 Lists That Got People's Attention".

Wild Hogs!

;-;

You should also note that The Fountain got a 2007 release over here as well, so there's another missed opportunity. On the One Hand I'm pleased to see This Is England/Black Book get some respect, because they are truly great films, on the other hand the Number 23 just makes me snigger.

And HOT FUZZ isn't listed. Ergo, this list, the magazine, and the person who wrote the article are worthless, and should end.
It's the Times, the entire newspaper has a metaphorical stick up its arse. Apparently Rupert Murdoch's idea of a Broadsheet newspaper is the Finacial Times, but dryer.

No Inland Empire
No Hot Fuzz
No The Fountain
No Away From Her
No The Science of Sleep

This list is flawed at a fundamental level.
Oh god, you liked The Science of Sleep?

I didn't even notice the distinct lack of Inland Empire, that there is a crime.

If I were David Fincher I'd be over the fucking moon that the same person who enjoyed Norbit and Wild Hogs so much didn't appreciate Zodiac.

Grindhouse? Hot Fuzz? Zodiac?

Nice try.
Wow, useless.
Why stop at 50 when you can make a Top 1,400 films of 2007 list?

I did too.
It's quite good.

It was interesting, visually, but I felt like I was going to choke on the films smug self satisfaction.

As soomeone else has said, I liked the visuals.
It was a bit smug, but there was enough imagination on display for me to feel forgiving.

But who can really deny Shooter?
