Mark Reynier, owner of the Bruichladdich distillery, says his site will stop production tomorrow. The timing could not be worse as it marks the beginning of the Islay Whisky Festival.
Bruichladdich, Bowmore, and Lagavulin are my scotches of choice, and they're all Islay single malts. I feel like Bugs Bunny when his shower ran dry, only there's no Quebecer or even pesky beavers to blame.

Good god no!

How is this bad timing to stop production a day before the whiskey festival? What do they age it for seven hours?

This is very sobering news indeed.

Seconded...unless they're dumping casks of alcohol into the local creek and blowing raspberries at the festival, this really isn't cause for much alarm for the short term.

As far as long term is concerned, I'm glad I'm a bourbon drinker myself.

Oh my good. I must stock up on Lagavulin! My inner alcoholic just had a panic attack.

That should fire the stills used to make whisky very nicely. Good idea.

Actually, I'm not sure that bourbon is flammable. I know that rum is...

In fact, if you dip cheetos in rum and set them a-flame, they're quite an interesting appetizer.
Melton, why in god's name are you flambeing your cheetos? I assume that pot had to have been involved in this?

If I could access the youtube link, I'd show you the pretty video we made a couple of years ago.

Stupid work...blocking youtube.

Like a red headed stepchild, my friend.

This is for pussies. You should try the home brewed ouzo we make around my parts. Pure jet fuel. After a few drinks you have to stop eating solid food for a couple of weeks so the 3rd degree burns on your stomach lining and throat can heal.

Dunno about home-brewed, but if you want a rough commercial bourbon, try Booker's.

127 proof (ish), straight from the cask.

So not only will I have great booze, I can also sterilyze my surgical instruments just in case.

Good thing I am a tequila drinker, but it a very expansive drink. I just can't get enough blue agave.

True. While it's great after dinner and nothing goes as well with a fine cigar, I always found scotch to be the pettiest of liquors.

I have never really had any good scotch before. Maybe I should try some. I also, like a good 12 year rum. Cuba make some really nice rum, but it kind of hard to get in the US.
