My nipples are hard.

In the kaiju thread, we were just having a discussion about changing up the effects in future Godzilla movies, and whether CGI would be an advisable addition. I'm looking forward to this, myself.

It just hit me. . . why hasn't this been done before, old as this franchise is?

With Matt Stone and Trey Parker supposedly filling the Kaiju side of things, I suppose a computer Godzilla is ok, but it's still a bit disapointing. I loved the action sequences in the Incredibles, but with giant monsters, I just wanna see shit get destroyed, and it's not the same when it isn't actual shit.

In my mind, a real but shitty model town destruction beats state of the art computer generated city destruction any day of the week.

I hear ya. Nothing like watching those big, rubber-clad feet stomp on HO scale houses and tanks. Maybe he'd pick up a bus, and throw it back down, as he pulled the spitting high tension wires down. Go Go Godzilla!

Ya know what, I'm starting to see some benefits here... 3D?!?!?!?! F**kin' A!

Still want a mix of CG and practical if possible, but yeah, I want to see his breath weapon shooting out at me. Yeehaw!

Yoshimitsu Banno, the writer/director/producer of Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster along with Producer Kenji Okuhira will be teaming up with a bunch of Americans who know what they're doing.
It's interesting that the guy responsible for the very odd "Smog Monster" will be involved. This could either be a really good idea or a really awful one. Guess will see.

I thought "Smog" was one of the best of the bunch, personally. It was the only Godzilla movie to actually disturb me as a kid; I'm thinking in particular of the scene w/ the news reporter blathering on while a bank of TV screens plays various polution inspired images behind him, one of which is a baby sinking into a foul-looking poolof some loathsome liquid. The schoolkids turning into skeletons when he flew over & crop dusted them was creepy, too. I think that dude's involvement is probably a good thing.
