Tandem(who renamed himself to Brian something) received mine but I never received his and apparently he was abducted by Armenians because the last day he contacted me was his last day on Chud. On a positive note, he did say he liked my mixes. Bendrix contacted me because he got shafted as well and we're exchanging now to make up for the shafting.

I am glad to see that so many of you had no issues whatsoever, and some apparently good music has changed hands.

Greg, just wanted to let you know that the first package that I sent you came back today. It said that the package was "unclaimed". I compared the adress once again (it was fine) and sent it again. Hopefully, you will get it before we get too old and cranky.

Yeah! Still need to listen a couple more times to give distinct feedback, and your handwriting is horrifyin' so I might not know the names of all the songs(edit: found the track list earlier up the thread), but I like what I'm hearing. None of it was familiar (edit: on disc one), so that's a plus.

Yours are in the mail. With yours, you'll see double dips on artists here and there (I get stuck in cycles). I added a third bonus disc of cover songs to get away with dipping back into people I like.

It's all alright, karmically speaking, because last year I received a disc but I never sent one. Now all is well with the universe again.
You must have made good with your precious little Gods because I finally sent the discs a couple of days back (and logged into Chud for the first time in well over a month. Sorry about that, but life became crazy for quite a while).

Now, for your discs: I just listened to them and only twenty or so seconds plays of each song before the sound completely drops out. Very weird. Also, the second disc doesn't play at all. I think this is karmic payback and sadly, I deserve it.

Nice Tom Tom Club inclusion though!

ETA:
To get the imfo out of iTunes, if you are able, print it to a document (PDF or Word or whatever) and cut & paste from there.
Just open the playlist, choose File --> Print, and under printers look for "PDF writer" or "Microsoft Document Image Writer" or whatever.

Thanks B!

Task: Make a mix CD for someone who says their "70s/80s collection is sadly lacking". Now, I want the CDs to represent what I love, so there's some bleed into the 90s and later (and earlier), but a 70s/80s-centric mix was assembled.

I never got the tracks ordered as much as I'd have liked, and I stopped caring about double dips after a while, so I sent three discs, grouped as "Guys", "Girls (by and about)", and "Covers".

Spike, don't look if you don't want to know.

I'd be all for doing another one soon, IF I wasn't sitting here holding my dick to show for the work I put into making my disks. Hopefully Bendrix will pull through, eventually.

The Nick Cave album (Your Funeral, My Trial) was a bonus/apology for sending so late. Plus, I think it's one of his best - just a quiet (mostly), spooky album to listen to at night.

Sorry for any tracks you already have - I tried to check it against your LastFM playlist.

Also, I just saw Superbad yesterday, and one of my tracks is in the film. Sorry for being accidentally timely.

Sorry about that.

So, is there enough interest to generate a second CD swap this year? I'd be game. And I'd try to be more interesting - at least as far as the CDs go.

Eh, not a big deal. My first partner got abducted by Armenians and Bendrix probably just waited to receive mine before he shipped his since he was burnt by his first partner as well.

I'd still do this again as I simply just love the idea.

I was awoken this morning by the click-clack of approaching horses. As I peered out the window, you can imagine my surprise when I saw a stage coach grinding to a halt in front of my house. A dusty gentleman approached and handed me my package, but was rebuffed in his attempt to solicit a sarsaparilla from me.

Though the speed is less than ideal, it does make for an interesting way to send packages. Anyway, CD received, and I will listen to it shortly.

I'm glad you dig that first CD. i am a huge fan of Andrew Bird and just drove a couple of hours to catch his show in another city. He is consistently genius. My favorite artist of the moment.

By the way, I forgot to mention that Star Six Nine was my brother-in-law's band hence it's inclusion. My oldest son used the song in an anti-smoking PSA he made last year (won first place) so the song keeps kicking around. My brother recorded it in 1999 if I recall correctly.

What can I say? The ninjas served up some kickass caterpillar rolls and forced me to subscribe to their newsletter. Your discs are made; I have yet to send them. They will go out this weekend. Any weak excuse I could make would just make it more embarrassing. Hopefully, the awesomeness of my discs will reverse the souring process and make you think only happy thoughts of the CD swap.

FYI: I haven't received your discs either, in case you sent them already. Hope they didn't get lost in the mail.

Wow, I thought they'd gotten you. It was just weird because the day after you were going to send them you disappeared from the site just like my other partner. I'm thinking mine were lost in the mail and I'll have to resend them because I sent them literally weeks ago. I'll PM your address back to make sure I have the correct one and we can try again. I'm just glad the ninjas let you go in time to trade discs. Hopefully this time mine will make it.

I've been around--it's just the times I've been reading are times when people haven't been posting in this thread. I'd no sooner stand up a swap than slit open my eyelids. It's just being so motivated an on-time with the first one apparently took all my energy, making this one criminally late.

The is the cover art and track list for the disc I sent Raspberry Leper, and yes, that's a raspberry in the background. By the way, the discs he sent me had awesome labels directly on the CD's with some Chewer related art, which was very cool. My mixes tend to be a little less obscure than most peoples, but I try to balance that out by putting stuff that's original on there, in this case my current band, and a song from the band I played guitar for in high school.

Raspberry's mixes he sent me were awesome. I've been starting my day listening to them at work every morning.
Well, it looks like I officially got shafted...oh, well, I had fun making my disc.

We must do this again soon!
Chris's CD was worth the wait. The cover art made me think of Extraordinary Machine, and when I initially looked at the track listing and saw the first song, I immediately started wondering which concert this version was from. Solid choices throughout, can't ever go wrong with Lennon or The Lemonheads (to my ears, anyway) and somehow, save for the opening of Rescue Me, I was unfamiliar with the Von Bondies tune, so it was cool to hear the whole thing finally. I enjoyed the original tunes, too.

This was my first exposure to any sort of CHUD swap, but it will certainly not be my last.
Here is what I sent out, un-inviso texted:

Disc 1

Sad - Pearl Jam
Premonition - Ned's Atomic Dustbin
Come Pick Me Up - Ryan Adams
Loom - Ani Difranco
Honour Me - Salt
Red Light Indicates Doors are Secure - Arctic Monkeys
In September - Hayden
Headlock - Imogen Heap
Slow Night , So Long - Kings Of Leon
Rid Of Me - Polly Jean Harvey
Alone - Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals
Broken Boy Soldier - the Raconteurs
Mouthful of Cavities - Blind Melon
St. Louise Is Listening - Soul Coughing
Long Live Doug (Standing) - Howling Maggie

Disc 2

Leyendecker - Battles
Future Boy - Catherine Wheel
Running Away Into You - John Frusciante
Carvel - John Frusciante
Girl At the Bus Stop - My Drug Hell
Twilight - Elliot Smith
Curious - Sandbox
Bullet in our Hand - Emmet Swimming
The Moviegoer - Matt Pond PA
Sally's Song - Fiona Apple
Obsession - Salt
Fighting For My Love - Nil Lara
Caught By The Fuzz (acoustic) - Supergrass
Edit - Regina Spektor
Burn - The Cure
Ice Cold Ice - Husker Du
No Fun (Live at Winterland 1978)- Sex Pistols

Man, I've always loved Costello's Veronica. What a splendid little song.
Hey Robert, I got your disc finally. Huzzah! I don't know what happened the first time. I had just moved, so maybe something went weird at the post office.

Anyway, I quite like the collection, even though I obviously don't understand most of the lyrics. Hearing guys rap in an eastern European language is kind of a trip.

When your liner notes started by saying that it was a lot of bands you knew personally, or had history with, I was a little scared, thinking I was going to hear a lot of cheesy garage bands and such. But a lot of these guys are really good. And the collection certainly satisfies my desire to hear things I'd never heard before. Plus, now I can look really cool, because I know none of my friends will have heard of any of them.
Phew! I'm certainly glad that you enjoyed it. And, yes, I was a bit careful when selecting the songs, so that not too many "I play in my mom's basement" bands appear on the mix (Still, most of these musicians don't plan on quitting their day jobs anytime soon). Speaking of lyrics, I can translate them for you if you want to. Won't take me a lot of time. Don't expect me to translate the last song, though - it's a pretty old dialact I can barely understand myself.

Anyway, I'm still listening to your mix once in a while and still like it a lot. Can't wait for the next music swap.

Are there plans to do another one of these this year? I haven't participated in these Chewer swaps yet, but I love giving and receiving mix CDs. And it looks like a lot of you guys/gals have made some great ones for each other.

This thread is way expired. Who's in charge of unstickying?

Are we doing another mix swap before the end of the year (not counting the Halloween one, which is a fun idea, just not my premiere choice for a mix swap)?

Haven't participated in any of these, but would definitely be interested next time. Hell, I've already got a tracklist rummaging through my head.

I pulled the trigger and finally sent my CDs (in zipped form) to Jeremy this week. The liner notes were what were holding me off, but I finally just sent him the tunes and the notes will follow. Jeremy, hope you dig them.
