Seconds for Cujo

glad this is getting a new SE.

would be overjoyed if Teague's Alligator got similar treatment (tho not full-frame, obviously) with Teague/Forster/SILVA commentary.

Cop-out ending aside, this was definitely one of the best King adaptations; I found it very intense at times.

While I agree with the above, I also consider it his worst book.
Cocaine, momma! What a rush!
My favourite King adaptation (book2film-wise) would be 'The Dead Zone'.

I don't know if Cujo was his worst book (I definitely liked it better than the latter half of the Dark Tower series and Insomnia, for instance), but it's the weakest of his earlier stuff, compared to Carrie, The Stand, The Shining and 'Salem's Lot. If we're talking horror books, Dead Zone is the best adaptation, w/ Pet Sematary following pretty close behind. But overall, I think Shawshank wipes the floor w/ all the King adaptations to date. Just my $.02.

You neglected to mention the news that this is still a Full Screen only DVD. Whoever's putting this out can suck it.

Me too, but I was 11. Been waiting for a decent DVD to check it out. Alas, fullscreen again. WTF.

What is with the love for "Cujo"? A made for TV movie premise executed hamfistedly with acting on par with that of your average television soap opera? The Danny Pintauro screaming his lungs out in a car sequence alone had me rooting for the dog to put him and me out of our respective miseries.

Possibly THE weakest King adaptation, and I've seen "Sleepwalkers".
Indeed. Sleepwalkers was the one where the cop dies after being stabbed in the back with a corn cob, which has to be the worst killing in the history of cinema.
No argument there, but technically speaking, 'Sleepwalkers" was an original screenplay, not an adaptation. Otherewise, it would have won hands down.

Well, maybe "Maximum Overdrive" could have given it a run for worst. . .

Noted. It would have beat "Cujo" though on the Clive Barker cameo alone.

Edit: It was actually based on an unpublished short story, but your point still stands.

I caught the end of this on cable recently, and while I too was rooting for the kid to buy it, I think the dog attacks are pretty creepy. maybe it's just because I've been a dog lover all my life, but to see something that you normally find comforting and loveable turned into a foam-flecked, blood speckled, snot-dripping mad hound from hell, bent on killing you hits home for a lot of us. The warping and corruption of the innocent has long been a central theme in horror; so here for those w/ a soft spot for animals.

I also have a personal thing for "Cujo", because it was the 1st King book I read, at 9 years old, when it 1st came out in paperback. It started me down the road to horror, and while not a fantastic book by any stetch, was good enough to make me want to read more of the books I saw listed on the 1st page under the "Also by Stephen King:". I promptly went out to a used bookstore in the neighborhood (I was 9; I didn't have much money), and bought "The Shining", "The Stand" & "'Salem's Lot". Devoured them all pretty quickly, and King became my favorite writer for a long time. "The Stand" remains my favorite book ever. All because I read "Cujo".

But hey, that's just me. The rest of these jokers got to speak for themselves as to their "Cujo" love.

I've never read Cujo. When I was 12, I asked my mom to buy me some Stephen King books, so one day she bought me Cujo and gave it to me as a present. This version had a rabid snarling dog on the cover and the moment I saw this I started crying and made my mom return the book. I loved dogs.

I just ordered this shirt. Fucking awesome.
If I was still 12, that shirt would've made me cry. But seeing as I'm not 12 anymore, it made me laugh uncontrollably.

I really wish I was 12 again.
I love the shirt. I'd buy one, but I think it'd frighten my one year old. My wife would kill me. I checked out the site you linked, and some of the others look pretty cool, too. I especially liked the Halloween III and Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things shirts. fairly innocuos looking, and just inside enough that only them in the know will get it. I may have to order one of those. . . .

Edit: Couldn't resist going back for another look, and I just realized that the one w/ the scarecrow on it is none other than Dark Night of the Scarecrow, which I think I mentioned once or twice as being an old favorite of mine. This shit is just too cool. Al, you da man, once again. I also think Darkmite8 needs the Robo Monster one.

I fucking love Dark Night of the Scarecrow- still own a copy of it on VHS, and it's definitely one of the movies that needs appear on dvd the most. I've never ordered from the place before (usually get my horror shirts from rotten-cotton.com) but I've heard good things.

I picked up the "Game over, man!" shirt along with the They Live one, as well. I love my horror shirts. I figure Cujo will be the next in my "freak out kids on the subway" series.

cool, thanks! I like the cover. too bad there's no word on extras. to pass the time I shall create my own extras!

"I certainly had a great time making this movie. what do you remember about it, Henry?"

"Well Bob, as it happens I do recall an amusing anecdote about our prop Alligator ... [sound of third man entering room] huh? WHO. THE. FUCK. IS. THIS. CHERRY?"

"That's the director, you idiot."

"Oh."
