The only thing worse than the people who get offended by everything are the people who don't expect anyone to be offended by anything. Obviously pro-drug slogan at a public school event = someone being offended, and this kid is going "Wha' happen?" like a dumb shit (then later gets arrested on a drug charge). It's like teenagers who go out of their way to look like freaks, and then whine about people staring at them.

Well, its more the fact that this will reduce a student's freedom to express their opinion overall. One can debate the intelligence behind the action all they want as long as they are not a student : )

This was an opportunity for SCOTUS to show support for our constitution at a time when it's under siege by the Bush Aministration. It's even a fairly innocuous situation -- even Roberts admitted the guy's banner was nonsensical. But instead of doing the right thing, SCOTUS denied a US citizen his right to express himself freely. That should send a chill down everyone's spine regardless of political affiliation.

The worst part about this is the precendent it sets; it could have an effect on school newspapers. And I know, I know most high school papers suck balls, but there are some good ones.

I just read Roberts holding for the Court. Not only is it poorly reasoned, ibecause of the way its written, it sets a horrible precedent.
