The chasm rests in the background as I sidestep a windfall
trying to suppress the mindset that I'd inherit everything
a week ago I was fragile but hardly the nerve wracked man you see
I fell from a mountain and the view was less than pretty

I will be there when you are there
if it exists I'll be sold on it

With foresight and a flashlight I'd reveal the danger laid below
with help from a bottle I grasped the ring and let it go
a youthful gaze inside the maze, I felt a shape brush me by
I fell from a mountain, now the fountain has run dry

I know what I'm doing
spending it all now my hands are tied

With a dose of unseen assistance the color returns to my weary face
back home gives me courage to take a chance and set the pace
it's a cold and brutal truth but I possess the will of man
I will kill again, to get up on the mountain
