P2P is adversely affecting our nation's farmers

Thread Starter
During a testimony regarding P2P, NBC Universal made a statement linking movie piracy to less people going to the movies resulting in less popcorn being eaten...therefore adversely affecting the crops of corn farmers. Think about that when you're downloading your personal copy of "Evan Almighty", you pirates.

Think about that when you're voting.

edit: oops. I thought it was a politician who said it. How could have been so off base?
Anyone who downloads Evan Almighty has far more to be ashamed of than merely hurting farmers.

And I like to eat popcorn when I watch snuff films, so I still support the agricultural base.

Wouldn't the fact that popcorn is what now? five, six bucks a sizable bag at theater have more effect than whether or not some rube downloads Even Almighty?

And besides, corn farmers are having a boom due to the whole Ethanol deal so I doubt they really would give a shit.

Lets not forget pop secret or orville reddenbacher in the comfort of your own home.

I, for one, will continue to do my modest best at making sure that Orville and his bow-tie wearing grandchildren never go without food on their table.

AND I'll do it without stepping foot into wal-mart.

Why would Orville care about having food on the table? He's been dead for years. But for some reason his re-animated rubber-faced corpse lives on.

I'll one up you. The same idiot also said that piracy is financially more harmful than other forms of crime, such as robbery, and that law enforcement agencies should shift their focus accordingly.
I don't know the data, but it certainly seems possible that it is more financially damaging than simple theft.

So what? First, I can't believe that a college kid downloading mp3s and a mugger are even in the same league as far as the gravity of the act. And second, the amount of lost revenue as reported by the industry is completely made up.
I would say the mugger does more damage than the downloader if you look at other costs, not just the financial ones. I.E. pyschological and physical costs if the mugger gets violent.
