Das Boot "Director's Cut" worth the double-dip?

I've been looking at this on the store shelves for a while now, wondering whether I can justify buying it a second time. I have the U.S. theatrical release version and I adore every moment of it. It seems a very complete story to me. I understand that the "Director's Cut" is Peterson's complete mini-series as was originally shown on German television and is quite a bit greater in running time. Anyone have both versions? Money is tight, so I've been trying to avoid any kind of double-dipping on dvds of late, as my funds are better spent on altogether new material I feel, but if enough of you can vouch for it, I would consider purchasing it.

No there are actually 3 different versions.
1) The original theatrical one which runs 149 min
2) The Directors Cut which is 209 min and fleshes out the story with restored sound effects. This is NOT the original miniseries, Petersen made this version in 1997. I have this one and it is great.
3) The complete miniseries which is 293 min and just came out recently. Haven't seen this one but seems like the running time is a bit much to sit through, it is supposed to have more character development.
