Chris does what I could not- http://www.creature-corner.com/?type=reviews&id=2592

Awesome review of a very bad film. For those concerned that I might have a vendetta against this poor guy, I warned him many times before sending him the disc for review. Undeniably the worst thing Carpenter has ever done, and this coming from someone who appreciates the subtleties and nuances of Ghost of Mars.

I take full responsibility for the watching of this episode, and no blame can be placed upon Alex.

*YAWN* typical Carpenter bashing, nothing new, this is basically the same review that every single one of his movies gets (reviewers caveats and claims of JC fandom aside). Pro Life is the same classic Carpenter B movie trashy fun as the rest of his flicks, and better than some ("Body Bags" for example).

Body Bags KILLS Pro-Life. Absolutely, positively, no two ways about it.

How's this typical Carpenter bashing? Chris even says about what a fan he is of the man. There is nothing fun in a b-movie way going on here. It's all kinds of bad. I'm surprised he even gave it a .5, honestly. It's nearly unwatchable. I almost turned it off when the rubber monster suit appeared near the end.

Maybe I understand where you're coming from because I still don't get people who don't dig Cigarette Burns, but for anyone to find anything worthwhile in Pro-Life just confuses me.

Yeah, I'll second that the calling this out as Carpenter bashing is ridiculous. This was a train wreck of an episode, and I'm also one of the minority who thought "Cigarette Burns" was one of the better episodes of MOH season 1.

This was a really poorly constructed bit of attempted horror. The sheer ridiculousness of the situations and character motivations just decimated what was essentially an interesting idea.

I forgot to mention in the review that at one point during the making-of doc, Carpenter is talking about the scene in which the security guards head is exploded. Someone on the crew worried that the CGI effect wouldn't match up with the practical effect they had come up with, and Carpenter basically said "Screw continuity." That should give you a pretty good idea of how much care went into the making of this episode.

Seconded on all counts.
