See, that is almost exactly why I like larger #s of teams. Whent he talent gets diluted, the better and smarter players are more likely to win, and it becomes more about scouting talent and predicting the next season than it does about luck (i.e., whose superstar has the slightly better year).
Now, I might also be biased because I didn't make the A league cut this season... so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Seriously, though, if you haven't tried a large league, you should at some point (especially in baseball). I get bored in the 10 team CHUD baseball leagues with 10 player offensive rosters... there is so much talent on the free agent market, you could make horrible picks half the draft and recover to the point that you are competitive fairly easily. The last few rounds of a draft are almost meaningless as well because you can just grab equally good players off the market before the season even starts.
